6th JULY 2020 - From Pastor Adam Low

Dear Real Life family,

For those of you who are enjoying some school holidays and vacation time I hope it is and has been refreshing. Clare and I caught up some time last week and enjoyed catching our breath after what has been thus far the strangest year of our ministry lives. I hope you also take the opportunity as you can to catch your breath and reflect on life and God's work in your midst.

In this past weekend's sermon I encouraged and challenged us to fan the flame of our faith like the early New Testament Church did by committing to gathering with other Christ-followers for encouragement, accountability, the hearing and receiving of God's word preached and the mission and ministry that flows from that life to the community around us. The Christian faith is a communal faith lived out by individuals who have made a personal response to the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

With this in mind, I want to continue to encourage you in the coming weeks to connect with others for the online worship stream in what we are calling "Missional Communities". Thanks to all those who took the time to complete our survey to help arrange and support the forming of these gatherings. In the next two weeks we will begin to arrange these opportunities. I have to say that the possibilities for genuine fellowship with other believers with worship and teaching, as well as the opportunity to invite unchurched friends and neighbours to share in are exciting. As I connect with members of our church community I regularly hear that people are looking for connection and looking forward to being able to have some. This is what Life Groups and Missional Communities will help to provide in meaningful ways - not just as a stop-gap, but as an important part of our way forward in a forever-changed world.

Just a reminder of what these gatherings are for:
  • LIFE GROUPS meet for regular encouragement, support and discipleship.
  • MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES will gather in a home (or similar) in an area to worship and fellowship together around our worship service streaming.
If you would like to know more, don't hesitate to contact the church office and speak with one of our Pastoral team.

Below are just a few things to engage with for this week...

Each week a different member of the church staff team will be providing us with a Monday Moment video that may cover a range of thoughts, reflections, encouragements and insights on daily life and the ministry across the church.
Today, it is from Matt Hornby - our Community Life Pastor.

Our monthly Church-wide Prayer meeting is happening tonight via Zoom.
Christian author and thinker CS Lewis once said:
"I pray because I can't help myself. ... I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God. It changes me.”
This is just one reason why at Real Life we believe that prayer is powerful. It is deliberately positioning ourselves to hear from God and to see him move... primarily IN us and then through and around us. You are warmly invited to join with others in prayer.

Beginning at 7pm using Zoom Meeting ID: 479 484 2933
As we navigate the challenges of gathering within the COVID-19 restrictions, we have now identified a date for our postponed mid-year Congregational Gathering!

On Sunday 2nd August at 4:00pm we will meet to receive the 2019 Annual Reports and updates on our mission and ministry in 2020 (including financial reports and plans).
All Real Life members are encouraged to attend, but non-members are welcome. CovidSafe protocols will be followed. With this in mind, our Springwood building is not likely to be large enough to accommodate the meeting, therefore the Congregational Gathering will be held in:
the CCC Auditorium at Calvary Christian College's Carbrook Campus
(559 Beenleigh-Redland Bay Rd, Carbrook).

Mark the date on your calendar!
Stay tuned for more information and meeting papers.
As you can see above we have seen God's generosity to us in providing for our June budget. Thank you for faithfully partnering in the mission and ministry in this way. It is a joy to see God work through his people in such pragmatic and faith-filled ways. Our God is a generous God and we resemble our heavenly Father when live generously.

As we journey through the next few weeks into this back half of 2020 I encourage you to step out into a Missional Community as they begin to form up and to seek God's heart for that gathering and the community in will meet in.

May you fan the flame of your faith in partnership with the Holy Spirit this week!

Blessings,
