Hello!!

Today would have been our Annual Partner Day event which in the past have served to bring you details of our latest developments, information from our wider partner network as well as an evening of fun and games. Unfortunately, current circumstances have caused our day to be indefinitely postponed, although looking at the weather, we may have dodged what could have been a fairly wet affair.

Therefore we have put together this quick email to keep you all informed about what we are working on.

COVID19

The current Lockdown situation has had a huge impact on all businesses across the UK.

Firstly, I hope that you have not been too adversely affected. For us, whilst we have not had to furlough any member of the team, we have been working remotely now since the 23rd March, with just critical skeleton staff dropping into the office from time to time in order to configure and dispatch hardware to you and your customers.

Remote working, whilst proving a little challenging at the start, we believe has had very little effect on our ability to go about our day to day operations. We are indeed very proud of how well our teams have adapted to working from home for such a period of time, and have even seen an increase in productivity in some areas of the business.

In response to our market’s change in working environments we have even developed certain products to help facilitate remote working which are discussed further below.

If you have any comment on how the current situation is affecting your business, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any member of the Exa team.

Office in a Box

Early into lockdown (launched 20th March) we offered our ‘Office in a Box’ bundle, comprising an FTTC connection (up to 80Mbps) and a VoIP handset (physical or softphone). This was an entirely new venture for us as we were offering this to people’s home residence - something never before offered from Exa. This package is available to anyone who is employed by our customers, be it in the Education or Business sector.

Mobile Data (SIM cards)

To fully support home-working and home-schooling, we are delighted to announce that whilst not yet launched, we are currently developing a new Mobile Data solution. Available as SIM only or together with a Mobile Hotspot MiFi device, our Mobile Data packages offer:

  • SurfProtect Filtering

  • Multi-Network connectivity (not tied to a single Mobile network i.e. 3 / Vodafone)

  • Static IP addresses (add-on)

  • Securus Monitoring (add-on)

All standalone SIMs come with a monthly 1GB data allowance but packages are available at 5GB increments.

Group data packages are also available forcustomers with a minimum of 10 SIM cards under one account, sharing a single data pool from 10GB per month.

Securus Monitoring

At the start of the year we partnered with Securus, the perfect partner to SurfProtect, Securus offers a service which monitors and reports in real time any potential instances of risk or problematic online activity, taking online pupil behaviour one step further than filtering.

Specifically developed to make online safety monitoring easier, Securus ensures compliance with all statutory guidance on safeguarding children including the DfE’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the Home Office’s ‘Prevent Duty’.

The Securus platform works on and offline for Windows devices, and offers online monitoring for Chromebooks, iOS devices and all other devices at a network level.

We are now looking to extend our Securus offering by adding AMS monitoring. AMS, or Active Monitoring Service, is for schools or businesses who do not have the resources to look at the real time alerts. Alerts are sent to an experienced team of people who analyse them and contact a designated person in the school or business with any instance which may require immediate action.

FortiGate VM Platform

In a world where everything seems to be moving to the cloud, firewalls are no exception. Introducing the FortiGate VM Firewall.

Having a Virtual Machine Firewall brings you all the benefits of an on-site device, but a level of flexibility only possible with a cloud based platform.

Being virtual allows the FortiGate VM to be always on and always up to date. It has the same top tech that it’s physical siblings, the FortiGate Next-Gen devices have, but without the need to buy a box, or house it locally. Whether it is working alone, or with other FortiNet virtual or physical devices, it is managed through a simple, intuitive interface which covers all the FortiNet devices on your network.

Application security and Connectivity protection is covered, as well as everything you’d expect from a firewall like VPN access and port blocking / unblocking for communications. Being cloud based gives it super flexibility, you can expand its coverage at the drop of a hat, cover multiple sites, and implement automated operations.

With a fixed cost covering setup, management and maintenance, this truly scalable solution not only removes any single point of failure but also brings considerable cost savings of thousands of pounds and helps you budget better by removing significant capex costs.

Sales Team Restructuring

After the departure of Robin last year, we welcomed Nick Strutt into our family as Sales Manager just before the winter break. It was my intention to formally introduce you all to him personally by now, but obviously with travel and meetings being restricted, this has not been possible.

Nick has certainly hit the ground running and one of his first aims was to shape up the structure of the department to better serve you and our collective customer base. The finer details of the restructure will be sent to you in due course.

I hope you will all welcome Nick to his new(ish) position and I’m sure we’ll be coming to see you as soon as circumstances permit.

Internet Service Providers Association Awards 2020

Despite the Awards themselves being pushed back four months, we are delighted to have been nominated for five ISPA awards this year, which is the 16th consecutive year of us being for at least one award at this prestigious event. We are finalists for

  • Best Business ISP,

  • Best VoIP,

  • Best Partnership,

  • Best Hosted Provider, and

  • Social Impact Award.

The awards will take place (all being well) in November, wish us luck!

Finally

We hope to rearrange today's event to a date as soon as possible and we will let you know more information when things are more clear. We really hope to see you all soon, so we can have a proper catch up together.

If you would like any information on anything mentioned in this email, get in touch with your Account Manager or come back to me directly.

All the best for the coming months,

Edd Grinham
