Neighborhood Groups

Neighborhood Group Leaders Needed
Some of you have been contacted by your Neighborhood Group Leader to begin connecting virtually within your Neighborhood Group. Some of you have not heard anything yet, and that's because we're still recruiting Leaders! We need folks who are willing to facilitate virtual gatherings with a small group (that we've already organized for you) with one primary focus: relationship building. If you are friendly, and don't mind sending emails or making some phone calls, you might be just the person we're looking for! If you're interested in serving as a leader, please send Sarah Snow an email: sarah@abidingpresence.net.
Abiding Kids

Tuesday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Click Here for Zoom Link (
Meeting ID: 878 4185 6092
Password: school)
As families make decisions about returning to school, Abiding Presence is hosting a Zoom conversation with Kristy Vitter, RN. Kristy is a member of Abiding Presence who is a public health nurse working on the current COVID-19 response. During non-pandemic times, Kristy serves as a public health nurse for schools. Kristy is making herself available as a fellow church member to share best practices in keeping kids and families healthy. She will also be answering questions that families might have as they seek to make decisions for the coming school year.

Abiding Kids Summer Camp
In the midst of an anything-but-expected summer, children's ministry at Abiding Presence is getting creative! Throughout July and August we will be putting on SIX exciting, free virtual summer camp experiences over Zoom for kids going into preschool through rising sixth graders! We will be offering camps for various ages that range in theme from puppeteering, to STEM, to Creation Care. Students will have a chance to explore a specific interest, connect with peers, and learn more about God's love for them and all people. Stay tuned for more information! Registration for all camps will open next week.

Adult Education

We have lots of virtual summer Adult Education opportunities. Check them out on our website

All are Welcome Book Study Group

We invite members of the Abiding Presence faith family to join in our All are Welcome Book Study Group! This summer, David Lewis and summer intern Lillian Bleicken are organizing a discussion series around the book, Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S., by Lenny Duncan to learn how we not only as individuals, but also as a congregation and as members of the ELCA, make sure that we are welcoming to individuals of all races who want to walk with us through Christ. Please join us on our Facebook page, “All are Welcome Book Study Group”, to receive more announcements for the discussion series. Use the Google Sheet link to sign up to purchase books either through abidingpresence.net/giveonline or by writing a check and slipping in in the mail slot with “Dear Church Book” on the memo line. Each book is $6.36, and there is a bin outside the front doors of the church with available books to provide a non-contact method of pick-up. Even if you do not want to join the book study, you are more than welcome to buy a book to read. We are excited for the summer!

“Listening for God” Contemporary Literature and the Life of Faith
Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Join Pastor Joe, our Teaching Pastor, for a summer small group conversation about faith and life using short stories from the book "Listening for God" as the guide. You can drop in and out of this study as your schedule allows as each story stands on its own. The group will take place on Tuesday mornings throughout the summer. The book can be purchased here or google the assigned story to read it. This week's story is The Dwarves in the Stable” by Frederick Buechner.

Abiding Youth

Abiding "Parking Lot" Youth Ministry
Coming in mid-July! Abiding "Parking Lot" Youth Ministry! We are working with public health experts and parents to find ways to safely return to small, physically distanced and outdoor ministry with our 7th-12th graders. Plans are in the works for parking lot games where each student gets their own parking spot as "home base." Stay tuned for more details.

ECHO Collecting Children's Clothes
ECHO is now accepting donations of seasonally appropriate children's clothes. They are then pre-packing the clothing to be distributed curbside to clients. Please sort clothes by size and drop them off to ECHO in labeled bags. Please do not drop off clothing or other items at Abiding Presence! We have our hands (and space) full with food donations. Clothing donations should be taken directly to ECHO.

Big, Huge Noisy Offering
Over the summer, we encourage you to create a “Big Huge Noisy Offering Jar” at your house. You can toss coins into the jar to make a little noise at home just like we do at church. Labor Day weekend, we will find a way to collect the jars to provide support for three areas of ministry: Hygiene Kits
to be shared with local neighbors in need, Medicare Co-Pay Support for seniors in need through Gifts of Hope and
25:40 which is an organization supporting children in South Africa.
