We upgraded 1,021 UniFi, UNMS, and UniFi Video servers

As part of our service, we regularly test new Stable releases of UniFi, UNMS, and UniFi Video and keep your server up to date.

About a week ago we upgraded all 1,021 of our servers. UniFi was upgraded to 5.13.29, UNMS was upgraded to 1.2.4, and UniFi Video was upgraded to 3.10.12.

Everything has been running smoothly after the upgrades, but we did discover a few bugs in the new UniFi version and had to downgrade 2 of our customers back to UniFi version 5.12.72 so far:

  • Multiple bugs with hotspot operator accounts not being able to log in, unable to create new operators, problems with vouchers: https://twitter.com/hostifi_net/status/1273744546317426691?s=20
  • Broken links in email notifications: https://twitter.com/hostifi_net/status/1274094980391407617?s=20

Work-arounds for these bugs: hotspot operator logins and vouchers seem to be working on the UniFi mobile app, and we recommend using the "Manually set and share the password" method of creating UniFi Admins for now instead of sending invitation emails to avoid problems with the email links not working.

UniFi 5.13.32 has been released and we are currently testing it, but it doesn't fix either of the bugs above from 5.12.29 which are listed in the Known issues section: https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Network-Controller-5-13-32/85eee834-c987-4875-8de2-51c6842d7bd3

UniFi-Video Products End of Life Announcement from Ubiquiti

Yesterday Ubiquiti made an end of life announcement for UniFi Video: https://community.ui.com/questions/UniFi-Video-Products-End-of-Life-Announcement/dc529d39-0e58-43cc-96f0-8f0eed0d002c

We stopped accepting new UniFi Video customers around the time UniFi Protect was first released. Our customers who have been grandfathered in will need to replace their UniFi Video servers with us by purchasing a Cloud Key Gen 2+ or UNVR before January 1, 2021 which is when we will have to cancel any remaining UniFi Video subscriptions. Please contact us if you have any questions or need assistance with the migration.

Use your own custom domain name

Did you know you can use your own domain name for your HostiFi server? Simply ping your server address to get the IP address, then create an A record on your DNS provider with your custom name. When done, let us know and we can issue a new SSL certificate for your server.
