Southlands News for 5 July 2020

Dear All

I hope you are all well.

Sunday 5 July 10:30am Service on zoom:

Meeting URL: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87030747784
Meeting ID: 870 3074 7784
Password: methodist

Note it is the same login details as previous weeks (even though we were told it might be a new one).

The Service on Sunday 5th July will be led by Rev Louise & Richard Grosberg.  They'll be picking up the story in Acts, where we left off at Pentecost.   The service may be a different style to that we've offered in the last 3 months.   We look forward to their leading.

If you have access to a bible, whether it be a physical one, or one on your mobile device, do have it with you, as we will follow the text together. The text for this coming Sunday will be Acts 2:22-41 - picking up where we left off at Pentecost, as we work through a series of services going through the book of Acts.

If you missed last weeks zoom service, Andy has recorded a video on his thoughts on the reading and that can be watched on facebook HERE.

As usual, if you cannot join in our zoom services, there is a list on the circuit website with more "worship at home resources" found HERE.

Please find the “Prayer & Care” sheet from John Bailey, which will also be posted to non-email folk next week, HERE.

James in song
James held another live concert from Southlands (on facebook) on Thursday. If you would like to view it you can HERE. You can also watch more live each Thursday at 7.30pm on his music facebook page.

Planet Food are now acting as a food shop. You can fill a bag for a donation of at least £1. There was lots of spare food last week. They are open at Southlands Thursdays 11am - 2pm (though most choice has gone by 1pm). Please bring your own bag and wear a mask.

NEW: YouTube Service
Revd Ian Hill has put together a worship service in a traditional format that will be available on YouTube from Sunday.  You can access this by clicking this link: https://youtu.be/OAC4PpzRklc (please note it will not be viewable until Sunday). We hope to produce a similar service each week.

Circuit Directory for 2020-21
Please let the stewards know of any changes to the circuit directory info.  The circuit is not planning on producing a new directory yet but will circulate changes we have been notified of for September.

Praying for our Circuit

The church on the Circuit Prayer Rota for 5th July is Strensall.  Let us thank God for the work of God in that place, and pray for the church as they consider how best to respond to God's call in this time.

Father who hears us,

Help us to hear you like little children,

To follow your call,

To share our burdens with you,

To listen and to learn,

To know that you love us.

Help us to hear your call to love and care

To walk alongside others,

To share their burdens where we can,

To listen to them and to learn,

To show them you love them.

Amen

If there is anything you would like included in these weekly emails, please send them to me by Friday evening.

Regards, Naomi
