From Page to Screen:
Ben Lewin in conversation with Jan Epstein

Ben Lewin, internationally renowned Australian film director, considers himself a ‘forty year overnight success.’ Join us for an evening packed with his witty insights as he talks to local film critic Jan Epstein about his recent work The Catcher Was A Spy and beyond. With his plethora of experience, most notably his feature film, The Dunera Boys, Lewin will consider the creative complexities involved in successfully bringing a book from page to screen, followed by a Q&A session.

The Catcher Was a Spy is currently available on Netflix and iTunes, but knowledge of the film is not required to enjoy this event.

SUPPORT MELBOURNE JEWISH BOOK WEEK

MJBW planned and presented free live-streaming events to its audience of the highest literary quality during the first lockdown in March and the beginning of the lifting of restrictions — Philippe Sands and Mark Baker, Professor David Isaacs and Dr Elizabeth Finkel, Colum McCann and Mark Baker, with Ben Lewin and Jan Epstein scheduled next week.

For the second time this year, Melburnians are finding themselves in a lockdown. Our thoughts are for the safety and general well-being of the entire community. MJBW hopes by continuing to offer more virtual events in the future that they can provide some comfort to us all during this difficult time.

We wish to say a big THANK YOU to each and everyone who has financially supported our literary community to this stage. Any future contributions will be appreciated at a time when you are able to do so.
