Dear readers,
June has been a great month for wildflowers! The meadow at Harmony Woods is bursting with life, and we've had over 40 submissions to the wildflower art gallery.
This month, we're inviting you to help us create a 5-year action plan from the outcomes of our development workshop. We've still got some One Ash timber to donate to anyone who may like to get involved with the project, and July's art gallery - trees! - is open for submissions. Read on to find out more :)
Best wishes, the ATU team.
Wildlife surveys of Harmony Woods are well underway! Click the Small Skipper sitting on a Knapweed to visit the project webpage.

One Ash

Last week we started working on a ‘Journals’ webpage, where we will be sharing the journey of the timber and the creative processes of the artists.
You can follow along and learn more about the artists involved by visiting our website here.

We have now distributed most of the One Ash timber to the artists and crafters. There are a few rounds left to donate to anyone else who might like to get involved with the project. If that's you, or someone you know, Please get in touch via volunteers@andovertrees.org.uk

The future of Andover Trees - Help us create an action plan!

Dear friends,

We have now had 2 of 3 workshop sessions (via Zoom) to map out the future development of Andover Trees United. It was great to hear so many ideas and ambitions for the future!
The final 2-hour session will be 10am-12pm on July 11th.

The outcomes of these sessions will frame the ambitions of our work for the next 10 years, and our plans for the next 5.

The next phase: creating an action plan.

We would love for you to join us in forming a working group. Together, we will put the ideas and ambitions generated into an action plan. There will be regular meetings (virtually or in-person) over several months, so there will be plenty of opportunities to contribute your thoughts. :)

As a community-led organisation we value the energy, experience and expertise that you bring to Andover Trees United and, as we move forward, hope that you will want to be part of shaping its future.

For more information and to express your interest, please email volunteers@andovertrees.org.uk

All the best

Wendy and the ATU team.

#AshTreeStream

There are 2 free guides produced by environmental artist James Aldridge on how to identify ash trees and how to make artwork from ash trees.
If you have discovered an ash tree near where you live and would like to share a photo or artwork with the #AshTreeStream project, James would love to hear from you. Either email them to james.aldridge4@btopenworld.com or post them on social media, using the hashtag #AshTreeStream.

Covid-19

In order to adhere to the government’s guidelines, we would like to make you aware that:

  • Volunteer workdays; we are working on resuming the Monday workdays for small groups. More details to follow in next month's newsletter.
    • However, those of you that may walk through Harmony Woods as your daily exercise are welcome to carry out an individual task if you wish to. If you are interested in this idea, please contact us for more information.
    • We also ask for help in monitoring the site’s condition. If you notice anything untoward in Harmony Woods, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know. Thank you.
  • Our monthly green craft sessions have also been cancelled until further notice.
  • Our schools project work has been put on hold until September, but there are additional resources online for those of you that would like to do some activities at home or on your walks.

We are still working behind the scenes on strategic planning, writing funding bids, project prep and all sorts of admin tasks. We can still be reached via our website and online via our social media pages.

We hope you all stay safe during these uncertain times and we look forward to seeing you all again soon. x
