Thanks to 2019 Staff!

The Hedges hosts almost 1500 guests during the season because the numerous staff members work hard to support the hospitality operations and the guest experience.

Gail Carmichael is mom of a son Jeffrey and grandmother of Jenna and Miles. Originally from Tupper Lake, she's lived in Blue Mountain Lake for about 40 years. Gail is one of the drivers who takes the international students back-and-forth from the dorm in Indian Lake to The Hedges for their shift times.  She's been around since about 2005 when she met Pat Benton.  What she enjoys most is the atmosphere and the setting: "The lake is beautiful and the sunsets are gorgeous and I also enjoy the staff."

Joe Somerville has recently moved to Blue Mountain Lake from the southern New Jersey shore. He worked for many years as a chef in a number of different locations and was a kitchen manager. He enjoys the Adirondacks a great deal and his work at The Hedges where he is a line chef for breakfasts and dinners.

Among the Romanian students at The Hedges this summer, Ioana Guraliuc is a 21-year-old studying general medicine.  In her spare time, Ioanna enjoys painting, listening to music, and spending time with her friends.  She appreciates getting to know new people and listening to their stories, and she is excited to have the opportunity to make many new connections and create beautiful memories during her first season here.

AARCH Awards Lunch

Each year Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) honors a group of individuals, businesses, communities and organizations that exemplify the best of historic preservation in the Adirondack Park. In 2018,  Pat Benton and The Hedges LLC were honored. This year the annual celebration luncheon will be held on Monday, Sept. 9 at The Hedges. Join us in celebrating the 2019 honorees and the places and people that help make the Adirondacks a better place to live, work, and play. The fee for this event is $50 and includes a buffet lunch. Advance registration with AARCH is required as seating is limited.
