SPACE STILL AVAILABLE IN THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

There is still space available in the after-school program. Activities include STEM classes with Nexplore, dancing, music and games, sports, leadership opportunities and more. Students will receive snacks, and have fun in an extended day program that has homework help. The more students enrolled in this fee based program, the more programs we can offer.

For more information about the program and any fees, please email Smccary@bacr.org. Scholarships are limited. Paying the full/monthly fee includes daily snack, access to all activities, events and classes offered in the ASP, and academic support. You do not have to attend all five days.

There will also be a parent orientation on August 29th during our Back to School Night. Please mark your calendars since this is a great opportunity for parents and students to hear about the activities, rules and to have any questions answered.

MUSICAL THEATER ANYONE?

Does your student love to sing & dance? Join the after-school show choir from 1:35 - 3 pm every Wednesday in the music room beginning Sept 18th. No audition required.

BACKPACK GIVEAWAY CONTINUES

We received a donation of backpacks and school supplies from a Claremont Community member. If your student still needs a backpack, please either have them see Mrs. Anderson or send her an email at edana.anderson@ousd.org.

UMBRELLA LOVE

Thank you to all who helped beautify the outside break area at Claremont. The umbrellas have been super popular....especially in the recent heat! Stay hydrated, everyone.

PTA MEETING IS TONIGHT

The first PTA meeting of the school year is TONIGHT in the music room. Food is served at 6:00 and meeting starts at 6:30. This is a good opportunity to meet other Claremont families and to touch base with our principal, Mr. Mayer, and other staff. We will discuss upcoming events and approve our budget for the year.

PTA FRIDAY COFFEE & TEA STARTS NEXT WEEK

The Claremont PTA invites you to enjoy free coffee and tea after you drop your kids off at school on the last Friday morning of the month, August 30th from 8 to 9 am.

All parents and caregivers are welcome to join us in the garden to meet the admin team, learn about how to check your students grades in Aeries, mingle with other CMS families, get a chance to meet a teacher or two over a cup of coffee. Please note that this event is not for students. We hope to see you in the garden NEXT Friday morning!

EVERYTHING AUCTION!

Save the Date: You are cordially invited to the Claremont Auction on Oct. 26th from 6 to 10 pm at Temescal Works in Oakland.

But the fun gets started now — The Claremont auction is a fun and important PTA fundraiser that needs all of our support — and it's coming up fast! Here's how you can help:

Donate: If you are able to donate a gift certificate or merchandise to show your support for our school please submit your donation online or download the donation form and mail it in. It’s a wonderful way to get your business in front of the community.

Donate Wine: A fun part of the auction is the instant wine cellar - Claremont families donate a bottle of wine or two to create a wine cellar - which is raffled off the night of the event. Please bring a bottle of wine to this Thursday's PTA meeting or to other school events (Back to School Night). Or email parent Genevieve Sexton who is coordinating the wine collection to coordinate dropping off at her house (which is near Claremont).

Throw a party: If you don’t have something to donate, but like throwing a party, you can still help.  Sign up to throw a party to support Claremont.

Volunteer: You know the saying...many hands, etc. And it's true. Volunteering with the auction is a great way to get to know other members of the Claremont community. Right now, we need help following up with merchants and businesses. Please let us know if you can help: auction@claremontms.org

Be a sponsor: Do you or someone you know own a local business interested in sponsoring the auction? Click here for sponsorship info. Or contact Leslie for more info.

Is there a DJ in the house? Do you have experience spinning tunes? The auction committee is looking for a parent to volunteer their DJ skillz at the event on 10/26. Interested? Contact Caroline for more info.

WANT TO HELP US SPEND SOME MONEY?

Given the success of fundraising in 2018-2019, the budget committee will reconvene to allocate the additional funds to the current school year's budget. If you are interested in joining us and participating in this process, please contact Ruth Woodruff at ruthwoodruff@gmail.com

ROCKRIDGE OUT & ABOUT IS COMING

The annual Rockridge Out & About street festival is Sunday, September 15th from 11 am – 6 pm. WE'LL NEED VOLUNTEERS to help set-up the booth, staff the booth to sell t-shirts, raffle tickets, and auction tickets throughout the event, then clean-up at the end of the day. We'll also be receiving wine bottle donations for the CMS auction's Instant Wine Cellar raffle. Let's raise funds for Claremont, have a great time, and make Dionysus proud.

Sign up to help here. Questions? Contact Genevieve.

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL BY CONTRIBUTING TO THE CLAREMONT FUND

Please sign up here for the Claremont Fund! The PTA spends about $600 per student, and it is asking all families to contribute to the fund, which goes to pay for extra teaching staff, the library, sports and much more. For those who can do so, we suggest a $1,000, one time contribution, or break it out monthly if that’s better for your family. You can make a one-time gift or a monthly contribution - that would be $125/per months over eight months. If you are already doing automatic withdrawals through PayPal, and want to bump up the amount, you'll have to cancel PayPal and start again. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated! Thank you! Questions? Please contact Michelle.

SHUTTERBUGS NEEDED!

Are you a parent who likes taking photos and would be willing to share them with the Knightline and the school website? We need 2-3 parents who are already going to be at school and sports events and able to take photos to share for communication throughout the school year. Interested? Contact Elaina.
