At Commerce Court, we greatly value our relationships with our stakeholders and most importantly among them is our relationship with our tenants. Tenant engagement, experience and satisfaction are at the core of what we do, and we are fortunate to have Rebecca Landman, Tenant Relations Manager, lead these efforts. Rebecca is primarily responsible for cultivating and maintaining day-to-day relationships with tenant contacts as well as on-boarding new tenants during move-ins. She is also often about the complex on her regular walkarounds and facilitating tenant meet and greets. Should you see Rebecca around the property, please feel free to say hello.

Introducing Garden Gangsters’ New Chef
Garden Gangsters is glad to welcome our new chef, Sierra Butler. Graduated from George Brown for Culinary Management, Sierra has been focused for many years on creating food that brings a new light to the health and wellness world.
“I hold my passion for nutritionally dense food without losing the flavor profiles found in the unhealthy options that surround us every day. I view food as fuel and look to surprise everyone with healthy alternatives.”
Check out their new menu and enjoy their brand-new salad bowls.
Out of Office Success!
As August has come to a close, we would like to thank all of our tenants for joining us for year’s summer series Out of Office. Our best year yet, tenants enjoyed and participated in a number of complimentary activities and programming including weekly live music in the Courtyard, our summer market on the Forecourt, and the ever-popular terrarium workshops. Tenants also exercised their creativity with ceramics painting workshops and learned more about Commerce Court through heritage walking tours. We hope you enjoyed the summer as much as we did and look forward to seeing you again next year!

Happy News: Sisters Sharing the Joy of Reading
While we celebrate literacy with our month-long Commerce Court library and games room, Delaware sisters, Zaria Willard, 13, and Hailey Willard, 8, are sharing their love for reading globally, every weekday. The sisters live stream themselves reading books out loud every Monday to Friday on their Facebook page Zaria x Hailey in hopes to give children around the world a chance to be read to. The sisters note, “we are already reading each night, but we though it may be beneficial for children who don’t get this luxury”. Not surprising, their Facebook page already has 10,000 fans! Why Building Certifications Matter
Next month, Commerce Court’s North Tower (25 King Street West) will be competing on the national stage in St. John’s, Newfoundland for the coveted The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award at BOMEX 2019. More than just banners in our lobby, these award and certification initiatives ensure that Commerce Court is held to a high standard of operational excellence and sustainable performance. Not only that, recognition through these programs acknowledges the collaborative efforts of our tenants and Property Management team in ensuring our complex remains a leader in the downtown core. We strive to exceed this ever-raising bar of performances.
Stay tuned for more updates next month!
Commerce Court Green Council Meeting
Did you know we have a complex-wide Green Council? This dedicated group of tenant representatives meets with our property team on a quarterly basis on matters of sustainability at work, and to discuss existing and upcoming tenant programming and initiatives. Not sure if you’re company is being represented? Contact our Sustainability Manager to find out and learn more about how you can get involved: ccto-sustainability@quadreal.com.
Our next meeting is being held on Wednesday September 25th at 10:00 am in the Property Management Office.
Ontario’s Blue Box Program is changing – what does that mean for you?
You may have heard recent news about changes being enacted to Ontario’s curbside blue bin program. These changes are intended to put the responsibility for funding and execution of residential recycling in Ontario entirely on the producers of plastic, paper, and other recyclable and non-recyclable waste items – commonly referred to as a producer-pays or Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model. While this approach may take years to implement, no major impacts are expected to how you use your current curbside bin program – now or in the future. It does mean that municipalities will eventually no longer be required to fund and manage their own programs (at present, producers currently fund ~50% o the province’s blue bin program, with the rest of the bill picked up by tax payers). Most importantly – these announcements do not mean that Ontario’s blue bin program is going away.
For the time being, this also means you will continue to see differences between your recycling options at home vs. at work. Inform yourself of proper recycling practices hear at Commerce Court and help us to minimize the waste entering our landfills!
Wellness Tip of the Month
Stay active and enjoy the season. Inactivity from being inside over the cooler months causes stagnation of the lymphatic system, slows down our circulation and metabolism, and weakens our immune system. Make sure to keep your body moving, while taking full advantage of the beautiful outdoors before winter’s arrival.
Looking for options? Join us in September for the inaugural Commerce Court Run Club! This complimentary outdoor running program features two weekly clinics and is open to all tenants. Please see article up above for all the details.
