A Beautiful Vessel for Fry Consumption

Whatever is happening in between that pita bread, we're here for it. This Friday, New York City's fast-casual falafel shop, Taïm, is opening at 1065 Wisconsin Ave NW--its first location in DC. Taïm--which means 'tasty' in Hebrew--is run by Israeli-born chef Einat Admony and her husband/partner Stéfan Nafziger, and features a menu with two flavors of chickpea fritters. Pitas, salads, fries, and platters with falafel, veggies, cauliflower shawarma, or fried eggplant will be available at the Georgetown location, as well as unique smoothie flavors, like tahini banana toasted almond and pineapple mint lime. While you're there, don't miss a mural from Israeli street art collective Broken Fingaz Crew.

A Simpler Time, Before We All Got Shiplap'd

In the Olden Days, circa 1999, no one thought of interior design as a career. Then an impossibly perky man and woman became the faces of a show called Trading Spaces, and a new path was forged. In this week's byGeorge blog, Zoe Feldman--owner of Zoe Feldman Design (1052 Potomac St NW)--shares what it was like to be in the early stages of her own career on Madison Avenue when the TV show debuted, how two young daughters have completely shifted her design perspective, and why sustainability is so much simpler than clients think.

For more on Georgetown's African-American history, follow Cultural Tourism DC's heritage trail.

Talk of the (George)Town

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the most recent mural addition in Georgetown, on the side of The Berliner (3401 Water St NW).  The mural depicts John F. Kennedy giving one of his most famous speeches, “Ich bin ein Berliner”, in response to the construction of the Berlin Wall.
