Sunday, September 22, HiSKidZ, and their families, will be "XP"eriencing church in a special way. TJ Regul, the Quad City Magician and a part of the Bettendorf Christian Church will be with us to share the gospel through illusion. Jesus often taught people using ordinary and available objects to help them understand the teaching of Scripture and a new way of thinking. Sometimes, Jesus used observation and sometimes He chose to work through miracles. While there is nothing miraculous about illusions at the XP, slight of hand "magic" is a powerful tool to engage children to hear the message of the gospel.
Here's Something New:
This month, our XP will include families. On XP Sunday during the 10:30 service, parents and grandparents are invited to attend KidZChurch with the kids! While we realize this means you will miss the 'big church" service that day. (We encourage you to attend 9am service or watch the next week when the sermon is posted online for Sunday's "big church" teaching.) We are being very intentional about our desire for you to attend with your child.
Here are a few reasons why:
1) We believe that when you get a glimpse of what HiSKidZ experience in KidZChurch it will allow you to have deeper conversation with your children at home and with those in the community. You will be able to speak first hand about the excellence of our children's programs.
2) Families new to XP's often feel a bit nervous to leave their children, and their children are a bit nervous being dropped off at the church. When family gets to stay with their children they learn along with their child while feeling more comfortable.
3) You will have an opportunity to connect with other families--those from our church and those who are new.
4) You can sit together with those you invite to the XP, helping them to feel comfortable and answering any questions they may have about our church.
5) Children will have opportunity to help TJ with some of his illusions. We know you won't want to miss if it's your children who gets to help!
6) Attending together allows our families to connect in a whole new way!
7) It's magic! And just about everyone loves a good magic show! Add in the gospel, and it's a win-win!!
Ephesians 5 instructs us to live as "children of the light, to be imitators of God as dearly loved children, and to live a life of love". It goes on to say that we should have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them, and to be careful how we live, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. We are called not to be foolish, but rather to understand what God's will is.
This month's FAMILY XP offers us a great opportunity to present the gospel, invite friends to church, and connect as church family. It allows us to shine the light of Jesus in our community. Let's be wise, live out God's will for us to reach people with the love of Jesus and make the most of the opportunity by committing to attend and to invite a family you know to attend with you!

“I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.” Proverbs 8:17

As the summer comes to an end, we start to shift into school schedules, packing away our vacation gear, and gearing up for Fall. In all the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to get distracted from important things, such as prayer. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has failed to follow through on a promise to pray when I hear of a need. While going a mile a minute in our day to day life, it is easy to let our prayer life take the backseat. I want to share with you something that has really blessed my prayer life.

I just recently celebrated a birthday, and the year prior, I purchased a journal. Journaling is a great way to pray and communicate with God. It has been inspiring to read through the ways God has guided me through the ups and downs of this past year. Sometimes it took months, and some things He’s still walking me through. Many times as I’m writing out what I’m going through or the prayer needs of another, He puts on my heart something I can do to help the situation or He gives me the peace that He is in control. I know when I pray it’s easy for my mind to wander, yet with writing, I can come right back to where my thought was left off. It is very therapeutic to spend time with God, writing out my thoughts and lifting others up in prayer.

However you decide to pray, it is my prayer that it is a priority. Not a chore, but something we make an integral part of all our lives as a church family. There is soo much power in prayer, there are so many lives that could be changed by the prayers you pray. If prayer has not been a big part of your life lately, I’d like to encourage you to put in before your day. Before you even get out of bed give time to God, give Him thanks, and ask Him to guide your day. I promise you will see a change, and you will see a difference in the lives around you. Make prayer a priority, not only for yourselves but for everyone you come in contact with. To God be all the glory.

If you are looking for a distraction free, quiet place to connect with God please  join us each week for a prayer and worship time on Sunday nights from 6pm to 7pm.

The Junior High Fall Retreat will be at Lamoine Christian Service camp November 1st & 2nd. It is for grades 6-8, both boys and girls, and is only $10! Such a great deal to experience the camp one more time before winter.

We have a lot of fun things coming up for all age groups that we will share throughout the year. We do plan on splitting up our middle and high school students on Sunday mornings in the Loft as well. If you have a heart for teenagers and feel lead to volunteer in helping Sunday mornings at 9, please let me know. As the church continues to grow, our need for volunteers continues to grow as well.

As always we appreciate all your prayer and support for our students and sponsors!
