ACID AND KNIFE ATTACKS: TWO NEW FIRST-AID FILMS FOR PUBWATCH MEMBERS

Would you know what to do if you were faced with a knife or acid attack in your bar? The recent spate of knife crime and to a much lesser extent the use of acid, has rightly caused much public concern. Thankfully both types of crime are still relatively rare occurrences in pubs and bars, but when they do happen, they can have a devastating impact on victims and businesses.  National Pubwatch, in collaboration for South Central Ambulance Service, has produced two new emergency first-aid films which aim to provide common sense advice on how bar staff can reduce injury and prevent the loss of life…(read more here)

STAR AWARDS FOR OTLEY PUBWATCH

RE-LAUNCH OF WOKINGHAM PUBWATCH

YORK PUBWATCH

After months of planning and support from National Pubwatch and various partners, the watch launched with 78 members.  Each member is signed up to Apex radio system and discussions are ongoing into the use of body worn cameras.  The Pubwatch members are working closely with York BID who are looking at ways to sponsor this scheme…(read more here)

KNIFE ARCHES TO BE USED AT WARRINGTON BAR FOR FIRST TIME

Knife arches will be in use in Warrington town centre this weekend to help keep revellers safe.  Warrington Police and the Warrington BID have joined forces to buy two arches and handheld devices to be used by staff at bars and clubs in the town centre…(read more here)

POLICE CRACKDOWN ON VIOLENCE AND DISORDER CREATES ‘SAFEST NORTH PARTY SPOTS’

Inverness and Highland towns have been branded the “safest party spots” in the north after a crackdown on anti-social behaviour – which has seen police committing 50% more hours patrolling pubs, clubs and restaurants in the region than counterparts in Scotland, the area’s police commander has claimed…(read more here)

WEST BRIDGEFORD BARS EDUCATED ON TACKLING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND DRUGS

A night time economy initiative in West Bridgford is helping to further educate bar owners and door staff on drugs and anti-social behaviour in their venues.  The joint initiative from Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire Police saw a dedicated evening of action earlier in June where officers from both organisations listened and engaged with staff at nine bars and restaurants in the town…(read more here)

BANNED FROM ONE, BANNED FROM ALL – PUBS COME TOGETHER TO BAN TROUBLEMAKERS

Wymondham pubs, bars and sports clubs are coming together for a new Pubwatch scheme.  Officers are hoping to crack down on a minority of troublemakers in Wymondham, Norfolk, with people being warned they face being barred from all nine pubs and bars in the town…(read more here)

VULNERABILITY TRAINING DELIVERED TO READING PUBWATCH

Recently, thirty two members of Reading Pubwatch attended a training session on the subject of ‘A duty of care for vulnerable people’ presented by the neighbourhood specialist officer PC Simon Wheeler from Thames Valley Police. The interesting and thought provoking presentation looked at the journey of a young woman on a night out in a club who became intoxicated and ended up being sexually assaulted at her own home…(read more here)

TROUBLEMAKER JAILED AND BANNED FROM ALL TOWN CENTRE PUBS UPON HIS RELEASE

A man who persistently caused trouble in and around pubs in Newark has been barred from every licensed premise in the town centre for five years.  A Criminal Behaviour Order has been secured on 29-year-old Shamus Doyle who has a record of drunkenness and of violent and threatening behaviour stretching back more than two years…(read more here)

‘IF YOU CAUSE TROUBLE YOU GET BANNED’ – SCARBOROUGH PUB LANDLORDS SEND POWERFUL MESSAGE TO STOP VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR
