WIN a $200 voucher off your next trip and a year’s subscription to the inspiring Great Walks Magazine

This newsletter we are doing something a little different, and we’d love for you to play along.  As you know, exploring is in our DNA so we are running a competition, but with a bit of a twist.

Yes, we are acclaimed for our trips on the Camino, but for those of you who are new to Wandering the World, we also offer several other once-in-a-lifetime walking tours.
From Japan to Iceland to Italy and Scotland, these tours are jam-packed with stunning walks, mouth-watering food, magical monuments and some of the loveliest people you will ever meet.

For this competition, all you need to do is explore our website, read about five of the exciting trips we have planned for 2020, and at the same time find the answers to the quiz questions below.

Not only do you go in the running to win a $200 voucher off your next trip with us and a years supply of Great Walks Magazine, but you also get to go on a bit of a virtual tour around the world.  Think temples in Japan, people watching in Amalfi and glacier visits in majestic Iceland.

So, what are you waiting for: get your thinking caps on, your website browsers ready and go have some fun?

The competition is very straightforward, all you need to do is find the answers to these ten questions on our website and email them through to karen@wanderingtheworld.com.au

All correct entries automatically go in the draw to win the coveted prize.   It’s that simple. The competition opens today and closes on September 1, 2019.

The winner will be notified by email and will be announced in next month’s WTW newsletter, so stay tuned.

We all know and love Italian food, and we showcased a delicious recipe for Udon noodles in our July edition, so this month we are taking you on a culinary trip to Iceland. A lot is known about Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes but not so much about their food. And let us tell you, it is delicious!  Like fish and seafood, lamb is a staple in any Icelandic diet.

Lamb soup or ‘kjotsupa’ is a hearty, wintery soup that makes for a most nourishing meal thanks to its flavoursome and abundant ingredients.  Most families have their own recipe passed down the generations but we’ve tracked down this delicious version for you to try.

At the time of publishing this newsletter, Jan was about to tackle her sixth walk with Wandering the World, taking on the 1,000km trek along the Via Francigena, from Gran San Bernardo in Switzerland to the Vatican in Rome.

One of her earlier walks was the West Highland Way in 2018.  Here’s what she had to say:
“The 154km route is varied as you walk through pasture land, forests, mountain valleys and along drover’s tracks. It truly is breathtaking with views across sparkling locks, and green mountains that go on for miles.”

“Summiting Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland was a highlight for me. The views as you are hiking up and the views from the top are spectacular. It's one of the best places to visit in Scotland.”
