This is a great opportunity to meet with our state senator and urge him toward a vision of California as a progressive leader for the country, or to ask him about his troubling recent statement that it's "time to have an in-depth conversation about whether those suffering from severe mental illnesses, and who find themselves homeless, should be placed in state institutions"

Sample call script (your own words are best!)
Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m calling from [CITY/ZIP CODE]. I'm calling Rep. Garamendi to request that he schedule a town hall meeting during the August recess. I believe it is extremely important for us to have the opportunity to speak with the Representative in person and for him to hear the priorities and concerns of his constituents. There are many critical issues we would like to discuss with the him including the need to move forward on the impeachment inquiry as soon as Congress is back in session.
In our current political climate, it is more important than ever that voters and representatives are able to meet and discuss the issues of the day in a face-to-face setting. It is our sincere hope that you will provide us with the opportunity to express our opinions in person, and to participate in conversation with you, the representative tasked with serving us.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
