THIS WEEK'S NEWS
BOG 2020 SENIOR STUDENT AND PARENT UPDATES

Senior parent shirts are in! I will have them available for pickup at the end of rehearsal next week. If you have not paid, please do so as soon as possible.

Senior families have the option to purchase an ad in the Southern Invitational Program. If interested, please contact Tammy McAninch at ads@southerninvitational.com with any questions. These are due 9/20/19.

I would like to begin collecting copies of baby, toddler, adolescent, youth and/or senior pics of your SENIOR:). At your convenience, please send these to me via email (seniorparent@sprayberryband.com).

SHOW SHIRTS!!

A limited number of SPECIAL EDITION "friends and family" Show Shirts will be available this Tuesday after practice.

Shirts are $15 dollars each and when they are gone, they won't be reappearing.  (Unlike the Phoenix).

BOG TRAILER IMPROVEMENTS

We have finally completed the process of removing all the old incandescent lights and wiring on the BOG semi trailer!

We put in a completely new wiring harness and LED lights. This could not have been possible without the generous donation made by Truck-Lite and the coordination of Guerry Williams.

Thanks to the following volunteers that assisted in this project: Guerry Williams, Daniel Hulsey, Alan Schmid, Trey Headrick, Dion Lovello and David Astor.
CHAPERONES NEEDED URGENTLY

The first official football game, (Sprayberry @ South Forsyth), is this Friday, August 23. Thanks in advance for those already signed up to chaperone, but we need a few more!

Chaperoning at a football game is a lot of fun!  It involves quite a bit of walking, climbing up and down the stadium bleachers, filling water bottles, escorting students to the restroom and holding their jackets, gloves, etc., watching over the kids as they socialize with the opposing team's band during the 3rd quarter break, and walking with the band through the parking lot to and from the stadium (before and after the game). We usually need to be at the school by around 5:30, but you get free admission to the football game!

To sign up to help this Friday or at any of our practices (we also need help during every rehearsal!), click the signup button below.

Thank you for supporting the BOG!!

If you have any questions at all, please contact Tammy Fulmer at chaperones@sprayberryband.com

Hopefully you all came out and saw the amazing Preview Show the kids did this past Saturday.  However, you know what will make it even better?  PROPS!

If you want a sneak peak into what the props will look like and even have a hand in crafting them, come join us on Saturday mornings at 8am at the school.

If any of the above items in the header sound fun, the MIB are planning another workday for this Saturday (8/24) and could really use some help. Please come out and give us a hand, even if you can only commit a few hours. We can use all the help we can get! We are building some really cool props, and we need more hands to make it easier.

Arrive by 8:00 am. Lunch will be provided. There is something for EVERYONE to do! We need your help to get props ready for The Phoenix show.

Purchase SCRIP Gift Cards THIS week!

Gift Cards through our Scrip program will be available for purchase this week on Thursday night from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. We will be located by the chaperone area during practice. We have several different cards available from Publix, Visa, Walgreens, Amazon, Target, WalMart/Sam’s Club, plus many more.

Did you know you don’t have to wait until I am available to get your gift card? Many gift cards are available electronically. You can also reload gift cards. All you have to do is go to myscripwallet.com on your phone and link your bank account to enroll for online payments. Many band parents do this currently. You can click here to view the step by step instructions to set it up.

Purchasing gift cards through our Scrip Gift Card program is an easy way to offset your band fees for things you buy every day. Every card gifts you a rebate percentage. That rebate goes towards your student's band fees. You could quickly reduce your band fees by hundreds of dollars!

Calling All Freshman Parents (and other grades too!)

Join the CHOP Team and knock out your band fees! It is also a great way to get involved and meet other parents. It is the biggest fundraiser for the band and without BRAVES and YOU the band will struggle to provide all the things the students have become accustomed to! So far this season we have earned over $70,000, and we are on target to break $100k if we can keep volunteers at the stadium.

The CHOP team is looking for team members to help finish up the season. The credit per game has been raised to $75 Fundraising Points (FPs) so you can whittle down those band fees and start banking credit that carries into future expenses. Another advantage to joining now is that if you get trained now, Spring training is a super-fast,15-minute thing! Then you can hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Training is Tuesday 8/27 from 6pm-9:30pm (We'll forgive you for missing the booster meeting!)

After training, there are still 16 Home games left plus any postseason play!

All you need to do is get your Cobb County Alcohol Permit. It does cost $30, but once you work your 6th game you get reimbursed. There are still plenty of games left for that!

Next, you attend the training class and then you are ready to sign up for games and start gaining that account credit!

It is work. it is fun. it is worthwhile. it pays you back for your time. it benefits the KIDS!!

Please consider signing up and at least come give it a try. It is getting harder and harder to get the stands staffed as people get their accounts settled and as Football season kicks off. If everyone could give 1-2 shifts that conflict with band activities we could share the burden and still all get a chance to see our children perform! The Braves will wrap up long before the Pheonix is finalized and competitions start.

Thanks for reading! Please contact Murlene or Lynne with any questions at braves@sprayberryband.com.

IN CASE YOU MISSED...

TWIB YOU KNOW?

According to mythology, only ONE Phoenix exists at a time.

The city of Phoenix, Arizona was indeed named after the mythical bird. According to legend, Phoenix gets its name from Cambridge-educated pioneer Darrell Duppa, who saw the ruins and prehistoric canals of the area and believed another civilization would rise from the ashes.
