Obituary

Rev. Thomas H. Tennant, age 70, of Moundsville, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, OH.
He was born July 27, 1949 in Glen Dale, WV son of the late Clifford and Georgia McCloud Tennant.
A lifelong resident of Marshall County, WV, Tom graduated from Moundsville High School. He was a police officer for the city of Moundsville from 1971 to 1975. During that time, he graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy.
From 1976 to 2004 he was employed by Bayer Corp., New Martinsville in the human resource department as a security supervisor and HR Manager.
Tom served honorably as the Distinguished Chief Court Marshal for the Circuit Court of Marshall County, since 2009, for which he was awarded a Letter of Commendation. 
After sensing his call to the preaching ministry in 1984, he completed all requirements of the West Virginia Church of God Credentials Committee. In March 1988, Tom received his diploma in ministry from the Anderson School of Theology in Anderson, IN and became ordained. Tom served as associate pastor at the Ash Avenue Church of God and was interim pastor at the Wheeling First Church of God. He also served as pastor at the Wellsburg Church of God, the Middle Grave Creek Church of God and the First Church of God in Bridgeport, OH where he retired from ministry in October 2015.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, of 50 years, Elizabeth Tennant on May 14, 2019; three brothers: Jim, David and Jack Tennant and two sisters: Norma Brandt and Phyllis Wood.
Survivors include one daughter: Amy Tennant-McCabe of Lewis Center, OH; one son: Brad Tennant of Moundsville; three grandchildren: Breanna and Emma Tennant and Connor McCabe; one brother: Bill Tennant of Moundsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville and on Wednesday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am at the Middle Grave Creek Church of God with Pastor David Sessums and Rev. Mary Lou Adams officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
