Sabrina and the Summer Sunday School girls
had a bit of fun on the front lawn yesterday.
Since Lent we have been providing Interactive Prayer Stations in the main foyer of the church. These change ever few weeks with a different activity that asks you to pause for just a moment. You'll also find copies of our weekly Prayer List there for you to take home!
We had a wonderful turnout for Strictly Social last Friday night!
If you have an idea for a Strictly Social event, please let me know.
Sunday, August 25th
Rally Sunday!
9:30 a.m.  Service of the Lord's Day
10:45 a.m. - Rally Day Potluck
Grace to you, and peace...

Kids are in school and it's a chilly 94, so we must be nearly to the end of August in Alabama.

Our Fellowship Supper season kicks off Wednesday at 6.
For the uninitiated, dinner is $7 for adults, $3 for kiddos, and a maximum of $20 for a family. You can by cash, check, or Venmo (@Edgewood-PresbyterianChurch)
[note: at this time, suppers are the only thing for which we can accept Venmo].

This week, it's simply fellowship and fun as we re-gather ourselves after the summer. I'll also have my laptop with me to receive your photos for What I Did on My Summer Vacation -- our annual romp through your summer pictures which we'll undertake the following Wednesday.

The hard deadline (and we mean it!) for photos is Sunday night (8/25) at 11:59 p.m.

Speaking of Sunday, it's Rally Day! We'll give thanks to God for the sacred Word and for teachers who help learners of all ages understand it. We'll commission our teachers and prepare for a year of curiosity. Then, after worship, we'll move to Barron Hall for our Rally Day Potluck. The Christian Nurture committee is providing the drinks. As we eat lunch, children, youth, and adults will all have the chance to learn more about their educational opportunities for the year.

Later that afternoon (2-4 p.m. at Southminster Presbyterian) the Birmingham Youth Group will kick off its year with a fun Field Day celebration. Any 6th- 12th graders are invited to join in the fun. BYG will take the next Sunday off and then meet again on September 8.

This time of year is exciting for a pastor as folks return from their summers and the building is more abuzz and the wonder of what our God has in store for us is in the air. If you haven't been here in a bit, come on home!

Peace be with you,
Joe
