Self-Sovereign Identity Incubator will be holding its kick-off event on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:00 pm PDT in the heart of San Francisco, California. Learn about current developments in the SSI world, the future of digital identity, and meet the early-stage identity startups we've selected for SSII's Fall 2019 cohort.
Representatives from some of the world's leading digital identity protocols and systems will discuss digital identity and more in a panel discussion titled "The State of Digital Identity: Bringing Blockchain, Decentralization, and Self-Sovereign ID to the Internet".

- Data leak exposes unchangeable biometric data of over one million people: MIT Technology Review reports that Suprema (a security company used by UK police, banks, and military contractors) discovered its system was compromised, leaking the fingerprints of over one million individuals, face recognition information, unencrypted names and passwords, and other personal info.
- NEC : IDB Lab and NGO Bitcoin Argentina to deploy a blockchain-based ID system in Buenos Aires, Argentina: The Digital Identity for Inclusion Project hopes to improve the accessibility of goods and services to those below the poverty line in Buenos Aires (16.2 percent of the city's population) by providing citizens with a digital identity using SSI.
- Blockstack and Recruit Holdings partner to boost privacy-focused apps in Japan: Recruit Holdings, one of Japan's largest internet companies, makes a strategic investment in Blockstack as the corporation moves towards decentralized computing.
- Google confirms password replacement for 1.7 billion Android users: Google is taking steps towards a passwordless future, following the lead of industry standards groups such as W3C and the FIDO Alliance.
- Sovrin Foundation named finalist in 2019 SuperNova Awards by Constellation Research: Sovrin Foundation was chosen as a leading program in the Digital Safety, Governance, and Privacy category by a program that recognizes teams and leaders for their innovative application of disruptive technology and transformative initiatives.
