Must reads
  • The future of the personal brand is self-sovereign identity: "We know blockchain will transform our identity online, but few people speak about how it can elevate the personal brand and incentivize us to create more transparent and authentic digital personas and revealing personal brands." —WOM Protocol, Aug. 22, 2019

  • Who gets to own your digital identity?: "Even though anonymity is still a hot topic and sought after in the online world, times have changed. With the rise of online banking, social media, e-commerce and peer-to-peer services, a verified digital identity is a crucial ingredient in making any digital platform succeed." —TechCrunch, Aug. 22, 2019

  • How to prove you aren’t a dog: Blockchains for identity management and certification: "Blockchain identity management systems are intended to address many of the shortcomings inherent in pre-digital identity management approaches. They can provide a high degree of trust while providing individuals a high degree of control over the personal information others are allowed to see." —Ventana Research, Aug. 22, 2019

  • Draining data moats: What happens when consumers take control of their own data?: "SSI gives individuals complete control over a single, aggregated identity, and they are the first step in consumers deriving explicit value from their data. The blockchain is also the key to capturing this value." —Forbes, Aug. 21, 2019

A growing area of focus is data ownership, along with increasing new interest in self-sovereign identity following the recent data exploitation scandals." —Outlier Ventures

  • Cyber Risk Analytics: 2019 MidYear QuickView Data Breach Report: "2019 on track to being the worst year on record for breach activity. Compared to the midyear of 2018, the number of reported breaches was up 54 percent, and the number of exposed records was up 52 percent. Already in 2019, three breaches have made the list for the ten largest breaches of all time." —RiskBased Security
