I hope you're all enjoying the summer as we look forward to welcoming your children to the 2019-2020 school year! This last weekend my family and I enjoyed a day trip to the Johnston Ridge Observatory on Mt. St. Helen's. The mild, sunny weather has been such a help in enjoying outdoor activities. School is around the corner, but making forever memories is super important no matter the season.
Our office is open for regular business hours, 7:30am - 4pm Monday - Friday. If you have questions, need to finalize a registration, or check in for any reason, feel free to give us call or stop by.
I want to share some staffing updates as we prepare for our staff to come back from their summer break on Thursday.
It is with mixed emotion that I announce the departure of Dr. Aaron Martini as he starts his new position as Student Management Specialist at Rosa Parks Elementary in North Portland. He will be such an asset to the staff and community at Rosa Parks. But, we will miss him here!
With his departure, I made some changes to staff assignments. First, I asked Deborah Crews to rejoin the Kinder Team and am grateful she accepted the change. Ms. Crews is outstanding with our early learners!
Rejoining our staff is Kayla Mora, teaching 4th grade. Ms. Mora taught 4th grade last year, and will make a great teammate to Ms. Trinchero. Those 4th graders will be in stellar hands!
We said good bye to Jacquelyn Buechel mid-summer. She took a position in the Vancouver School District. We wish her well in her new adventures. Through a competitive application process, we were able to welcome Melissa Smith to our Special Education team. Ms. Smith comes to us from the North Clackamas School District, with solid experience in specially designed instruction for K-5 learners. Please join me in welcoming her to our FPE staff!
Last minute reminders:
1. Don't buy school supplies to use at FPE. We've already ordered what we need so classrooms are ready to go straight away on the first day. Later, we'll ask for a $110 donation for the cost of supplies. '

You'll receive lots of information in our Welcome Packet, sent home on the first day of school. In the meantime, I'll send a updates as we get closer to the first day of school, August 28th, 2019 @ 8am.
