Over the years, people have fallen in love with Spyderco's Compression Lock mechanism, thanks in part to its use in the iconic Paramilitary 2.

But it wasn't the release of the latest Badass Knife of the Week that the knife community experienced a whole new era of Compression Lock flipper knives.

The Spyderco Sliverax was the first Compression Lock flipper that combines the safety and strength of the locking mechanism with the convenience and quickness of a flipper tab.

Although it's easy to focus on the lock and flipper aspect of the knife, the design deserves a thorough appreciation. Designed by automotive engineer and knife enthusiast Paul Alexander, the Sliverax is a slim and sleek folder with a perfectly descriptive name.

Featuring a 3.48-inch blade made from S30V steel, the knife is meant to be used for all sorts of tasks.
The ergonomically designed handle boasts a comfortable grip that leaves the user feeling confident. Carbon fiber and G-10 laminate scales are durable and look good in the process.

A wire tip-up deep carry clip is unassuming and unobtrusive on this eminently EDC-able folder.
