Funding to combat deadly ovarian cancer

Dr Maree Bilandzic has been awarded $700,000 to progress research to target rogue cancer cells called ‘leader cells.’  The announcement is part of $2.2 million awarded by the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) to progress treatments for ovarian cancer. Continue reading »

Toorak College students sew caps for cancer patients at Frankston Hospital

Seventy Toorak College international boarding students have spent the last 12 weeks sewing special caps for cancer patients at Frankston Hospital. 2,000 new experts in the community

A Melbourne GP has just become the 2,000th person to join a 4-week online course to better help people living with or recovering from cancer. The course, Cancer Survivorship for Primary Care Practitioners was launched just over a year ago and is accessed on the FutureLearn platform as a MOOC – massive open online course. Continue reading »

Cancer Survivorship for Primary healthcare providers: This online training course provides strategies for the management of patients during and after cancer treatment and is endorsed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The VicTAG Chemotherapy Audit Toolkit contains tools designed to assist in auditing chemotherapy prescribing against protocol as well as a quality framework covering creating protocols for use in a health service and prescribing variation management. MRFF   Genomics Health Futures Mission Pathogen Genomics provides researchers with grants of up to $10 million for large-scale pilot research studies into pathogen genomics late in the research and development pipeline aiming to demonstrate clinical and/or public health utility, cost-effectiveness, and capacity for translation of genomics in the clinic, in recognition that such evidence is critical to the adoption of genomics in mainstream healthcare.
