PLASTIC-FREE SHAVING PUCKS NOW AVAILABLE

We consider our environmental footprint in all our decision making, however, we love it when our customers are on the same page - pushing us to come up with solutions to excess packaging. Step by step we're exploring options to give you alternative options for our products.
Today we're happy to announce that we're now offering our wet shaving soap in "puck" form. This is the same product as our Traditional Shaving Soaps, but set into a mould and then wrapped in wax paper with a paper label.
Now, there’s a number of ways to use a shaving puck. Here's a few:
- Place the puck in the bottom of your shaving mug, moisten to activate, load your soaked brush with creamy soap and lather on the face.
- Place the puck in a recycled container (think wide mouth jar, enamel cup, ramekin etc.), moisten soap to activate, load your soaked brush with creamy soap and work up a lather in your shaving bowl (or any bowl). Add extra water as necessary to build a luscious whippy lather.
- In a hurry? Moisten your puck, rub over face and shave. This method does not soften the beard in the same way as lathering does but some days ya’ gotta do what ya’ gotta do.

We engage a talented local woodworker who crafts wooden handles in fine (and rare) timber such as Huon Pine, Red Cedar, Jacaranda and Camphor Laurel. When we originally designed the Nourishing Face Oil and Balancing Face Oil we were thinking about catering to the very specific needs of different skin types. But since using the oils ourselves and listening to customer feedback we’ve come to realise that our skin has different needs at different times of year and even at different times of day.
We’ve been interested to note that some people are using their Nourishing Oil at night and Balancing Oil in the day as it makes a perfect base under makeup or other products.
Still others have told us they would use the Nourishing in the dry, cold months but swap to Balancing when the weather heats up and heat and humidity becomes a problem.

The next soapmaking workshop will be held at our store on Sunday 8 September (our Saturday workshop is booked out).
We need a minimum of 6 bookings to run this workshop. This will be our last workshop for the year.
You'll learn how to make soap using tools that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Still no rain. As we get to the end of winter with no rain on the horizon and the landscape bone dry, we worry about fire season. The official fire season has started early because of the dry conditions. Firefighters are developing plans on how to fight fires with no available water for refilling trucks (nearly all local dams are empty or close to it).

Wherever possible, we choose to source our ingredients locally, often direct from the growers. When we purchase ingredients from further afield we place great emphasis on using ethical, organic, fair trade and sustainably produced raw ingredients. Our packaging is biodegradable, recycled and recyclable where possible.
Our products include cold pressed edible oils,butters and milks, extracts, infusions, activated and whole botanicals along with clays, honey, fruit and vegetables. Basically, ingredients you can recognise, most of which are edible.
