Judy & Punch – Australian Premiere – SFF 19
Please join us from 6:00pm for our Opening Night Reception at Huskisson Pictures of the Sydney Film Festival TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL @ Huski starting Friday 23 August with Judy & Punch

A visceral and dynamic live-action reinterpretation of the famous 16th century puppet show, writer-director Mirah Foulkes turns the traditional story of Punch & Judy on its head.

In a peculiar and unforgiving town; gripped by a frenzy of witch hunts and hangings, the townspeople revel in the drama and brutality of the trials and executions, while Judy (Mia Wasikowska) and Punch (Damon Herriman) endeavour to use their show to escape, with their new baby, to loftier means. Unfortunately, Punch succumbs to the seduction of the local tavern. Despairing at her husband’s weakness, Judy forces the hungover Punch to focus on his responsibilities and leaves him to mind their baby for a morning, the repercussions of which are disastrous for all.

Also part of the festival THE FINAL QUARTER Cheers turned to boos in the final years of AFL champion footballer Adam Goodes' career when he publicly called out racism. This impassioned film tracks Australia's heated response.
