Sampling Asia Fair

Kick-off the new semester with some fun, and join Asian Studies for its annual Sampling Asia Fair on Thursday, Sept. 5 @ 6:30 pm on the second floor balcony of Manly Hall (across from Gorgas Library). We will have some activities, including calligraphy and free Asian food, information about student activities and events related to Asia, and 2 film screenings, an anime film (Okko's Inn) and a Chinese drama (Beautiful Accident). Film screenings will begin at 7:00 pm, in Manly 207 and 210, so you can choose which movie to watch (both with English subtitles). Film screenings will end by 9:00 pm. Don't miss it!

For more information and links to film trailers, go to the Asian Studies website Asian Studies website.

What Can I Do With an Asian Studies Minor?

You can do almost anything with a minor in Asian Studies. Minors develop skills in critical thinking, observation, visual and textual analysis, and communication, among others, by taking courses in multiple disciplines. Beyond the general skills, studying the cultures and histories associated with the countries of Asia helps students engage a part of the world that is growing in terms of population and economic and political influence as well as develop a complex understanding of cultures and societies globally. Talk to faculty in Asian Studies to hear more about the minor and the experiences of our graduates.
