On Sunday, August 25, we will hold the Sunday school kick-off for all ages. Classes will meet in the sanctuary at 10:00 AM in order to meet the teachers and learn about the classes for this year. All Sunday school classes will end at 11:00 AM. Join us for the kick-off and an exciting new year of learning and growth.

HomeConnect
September 22
Oakwood has a ministry called HomeConnect and the purpose is to give students a home away from home. We do this through host families who are committed to building relationships, praying for, and encouraging our students by inviting them into your home to enjoy a home-cooked meal.

ESL Teachers and Helpers Needed

The ESL program at Oakwood needs your help!
Two of our teachers are moving so we short teachers and helpers this year. If you want to have a ministry with people who are from all around the world then this is a ministry for you!

New Financial Bible Study
September 7
Oakwood is offering a small group biblical financial study scheduled for this fall and taught by Mike and Hillary Sunderland. The study is called " Set Your House in Order" by Compass Financial Ministries. The small group study is a tool to help you plan your estate and manage your current finances. Topics Include: Building a Foundation, Taking Inventory, Providing for Loved Ones, and Leaving a Legacy.
The maximum small group size is 10, so space is limited. The study is suitable for singles or for couples (or even one spouse if the other can't attend).
Study Schedule (Attendance is required at five of the six meetings):
Sept. 7 (Orientation)
Sept. 21 (Week #1)
Sept. 28 (Week #2)
Oct. 12 (Week #3)
Oct. 26 (Week #4)
Nov. 9 (Week #5)
Course materials cost is $35 for couples for $25 for singles.

PRC 5K
September 14
Please consider supporting the State College Pregnancy Resource Clinic’s Annual You Matter 5k Walk/Run and 10-mile bike ride!
- Event takes place at Stepping Stones Community Church (848 Science Park Road in State College)
- Registration and check-in from 7:45-8:45 am
- Events begin at 9:00 am
- Chip timing available for all 5k runners
- Refreshments provided for all participants
- Awards for the top finishers in each category
Participants can pay a $35 registration fee (save $5 by registering before 8/28!) or raise funds to support the work of PRC. Funds can be raised through online giving (a fundraising page will be set up when you register). Contact Debbie Bonaquist for any questions.

Men's Breakfast
August 31
Calling all Men! We will be concluding our three-part series on work with our third and final breakfast on Saturday August 31! The time will be divided up into breakfast and fellowship time from 8:00 am - 8:45 am followed by a teaching by Tim Johnson and time for discussion from 8:45 am - 10:00 am. 4th Friday

I hope you can join us for August's 4th Friday! This month, Taylor Chambers will be hosting a pool party to welcome Kaela Smith. Please bring a swim suit and a snack to share if you're able, but all our welcome regardless.
The party begins at 7pm and Taylor lives at 5703 W Buffalo Run Rd, Port Matilda PA 16870. Taylor has provided instructions below to assist in finding her driveway below:
The numbers are on a fence, and here are some landmarks...We are the driveway directly across the road from the Gray’s Woods development entrance. Once you pull in the driveway, drive past the big white barn and all the way up the hill. Taylor's number is 717-490-0851 should anyone anyone gets lost.

Women's Bible Study Sign-ups
Aug 25 & Sept 1
We are excited to have you join us for this year's Women's Bible Study!
Choose a study that best suits your schedule:
Tuesdays from 3:30 pm - 5 pm every other week, studying Ezra and Haggai, using Observation-Interpretation-Application (OIA) or
Wednesdays from 9:00 am - 11:15 am every week, studying Ezra and Nehemiah, using Sarah Ivill's guide, "Ezra and Nehemiah: The Good Hand of Our God is On Us"
Both studies will be held at Oakwood Presbyterian Church (beginning September 10th and 11th) and both will provide childcare.
