JANE Nuttles’ Tutti Frutti
It takes 8 weeks to properly ferment, but once it’s ready you can keep it going forever!
1 8 ¼ ounce can crushed pineapple, drained
1 ½ cups sugar
¾ cup drained sliced peaches, cut in halves
6 maraschino cherries. chopped
1 tablespoon or 1 package active dry yeast
In a medium size bowl, mix pineapple with ¾ cup of sugar; add peaches and remaining sugar. Stir well.
Add cherries and yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Pour mixture into a 2 quart or larger jar. Cover and leave in a warm dry place for two days, stirring the mixture 3 times daily. Leave the mixture for 12 days only stirring once daily.
Then, add to the jar, 1 cup sugar; 1 cup drained canned crushed pineapple ( 13 ¼ ounce can). Leave two weeks longer, stirring every day or two.
Then, add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup drained slice peaches (cut in halves). Leave for 2 weeks longer, stirring every day or two.
Again, add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup drained chopped maraschino cherries and leaver 2 week longer, stirring every day or two. Finally, it is aged and fermented. It makes 6 cups You can use it up or keep the process going by adding 1 cup of drained crushed pineapple or peaches, or cherries ( in this order) to the jar every 2 weeks. You can also delay adding the fruit a day or two, but if you do, wait a full two weeks before adding the next batch. 3 cups of the mixture can be given to a friend as a starter, but you need to keep 3 cups of the mixture in the jar; and the fermentation will stop if more fruit is not added or if it is refrigerated

O GOD, look with compassion on the one in seven Americans who face hunger in this country. Preserve their dignity as they struggle to get enough to eat. May those looking for jobs find new opportunities to earn a living. May those who are unable to work be supported and sustained by their communities. Lord, in your mercy.

Congratulations!
We have raised enough to get a cow
and are working on buying a farm!
NEW JERSEY SYNOD COW CHALLENGE 2018–2019 Did you know that one dairy cow can produce as many as three gallons of milk each day? That nutritious, calcium-packed milk from a cow helps ensure that children in a family or a community can grow up healthy and strong. Extra milk can also be used to make cheese, yogurt, butter and other dairy products to eat and sell for a steady source of income. With food and funds—not to mention fertilizer for fields—a cow is a total package for a family which would otherwise face hunger.
Between now and the 2019 Synod Assembly, each congregation in the New Jersey Synod is invited to raise $500, which is what the ELCA World Hunger Appeal spends to provide one cow through their Good Gifts program. Read on to learn more about the ELCA World Hunger and this special opportunity for your congregation to get involved! (Please click here for more information on the Bishop's Challenge)
