- There were 13 members attending this week's meeting.
- August 27th at 5:30 we will be accepting a proclamation for our 100th anniversary from the mayor. If you'd like to come, It's on the 2nd floor of City Hall. We'll be there about 5:15 for a good seat. We're 1st on the agenda and then you can leave.
- We will be course marshalls for the Asheville Running Experience race on September 21st 8:30-10:45. There will be a sign up at the next meeting.
- Please go on our website and get your tickets for our 100 year gala on Sept. 21st! Spread the word! Tickets will be available until a week before.
- We need your help to get donations for our silent auction and sponsors for our gala. Here is a donation letter and sponsor letter that you can send someone or use to help you know what to say. You can print a copy of sponsorship information or an invitation below if needed.

Keep Collecting During the Summer!
Johnston is collecting box tops which earn money for their school! Many products you buy have them. Click here to see a list. There will be a jar at the check in table. Bring any box tops you've collected during the week, and we will deliver them to Johnston when school starts back in the fall.

There was a nice article in the Mountain Express about the formation of our club 100 years ago. The writer didn't get the date of our charter correct, but he did reference many things that were published in the Asheville Citizen 100 years ago about the Kiwanis Club. Read the article here |

Our 100 year gala will be September 21 at Lutheridge. We are in the process of getting some sponsors. We are trying to reach out to organizations that Kiwanis has helped in the past as well as other businesses that want to support our mission. If you have any ideas, or know of any former Kiwanians with a business that might like to be a sponsor, please let us know or take sponsorship information to them.

We will also be having a silent auction that night to raise money for our division playground at Eliada Home. Please help us gather items such as tickets, gift certificates, art work, or anything that might bring in some money at the auction. Ask for a gift card donation at your favorite restaurant, or ask a business you frequent to donate something.
Print a copy of the invitation/flyer to take to businesses to ask for donations for our silent auction or give to someone you want to invite to the gala.

Scott Rogers, a member of our club for 35 years, spoke about the impact Kiwanis has had on children in our community through the years. A big project we did with the Carolina's District in 2003 was The Kiwanis Family Care Center at Mission Hospital, which is part of the Neonatal Intensive Care floor. One of the favorite projects of many of our members is the Christmas shopping spree with homeless children, which was started in 1990 and still continues today.
