A detailed report on the Regional Governance Review Survey by Environics Research was made available to Council.

Key takeaways from the report include:
  • Residents generally express confidence in the current state of representation in Niagara Region
  • There are small pockets of evidence of a limited appetite for some changes to the two-tier system
  • Support for the current government structure translates into confidence that existing representation can best deliver important services and community character
The report provides an executive summary, in addition to an in-depth look at the research and methodology.

Rainbow Crosswalk in the City
Niagara Falls resident Falynn Shaw made a request to Council for a Rainbow Crosswalk to be installed in the City. Shaw has expressed that rainbows are a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community and rainbow crosswalks have become a way for towns and cities to show support and acceptance for the queer people living in them.

The proposed crosswalk would be installed downtown, at Queen St. and Erie Ave. Council referred the request to staff for a report with additional information, including a cost breakdown and safety concerns addressed.
