The Great Iowa State STANDING InnOVATION Pitch Off! 

Iowa State University's main event for this year's Iowa State Fair happening August 8-18 showcases entrepreneurship and innovation.  Fair goers have the chance to listen to 150 Shark Tank-like entrepreneurial pitches from students, alumni, and community members, all competing for the chance to win cash prizes.  Make sure to stop by the Varied Industries Building to vote on your favorite pitch!

CYstarters Demo Day

The 11-week accelerator program for Iowa State students and recent alumni celebrated the 15 startups participating in the fourth cohort at the CYstarters Demo Day on August 1.

Entrepreneurship is a community sport - What better way to support young entrepreneurs than honoring our past alumni, who inspire the next set of student entrepreneurs everyday.  The CYstarters alumni award is presented to past participants who have continiously made progress since participating in CYstarters.  Pictured: Judi Eyles (Pappajohn Center) and Mikayla Sullivan (KinoSol).

Have you attended 1 Million Cups Ames yet?
Join the weekly Wednesday event which brings together the community to rally behind entrepreneurs and to learn what others are building.  Each week entrepreneurs share their 10-minute pitch, followed by Q&A from the audience.  Plug-in and get to know what is happening in Ames and throughout Central Iowa!

1 Millions Cups Ames is a weekly event that brings together entrepreneurs and the Ames community over coffee and conversation.  The first Wednesday of every month 1MC is held on campus at the Maintenance Shop, with the following Wednesdays at the Ames American Legion on Main Street.

The ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship will host  Roy Reiman for a special Reiman Entrepreneurial Speaker Series event on Friday, September 13!

About Roy Reiman:
Roy Reiman started his own publishing company, Reiman Publications, which grew to be the largest subscription-supported publishing firm in the United States.  Reiman sold the company in 2004, and wrote a book.  Later he would start two new magazines --one for his home state of Iowa (Our Iowa) and one for his adopted state of Wisconsin (Our Wisconsin). 
Congratulations to the Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition finalists! 
Congratulations to the 12 businesses that advanced to the final round of the Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition.  The 12 finalists will present to a statewide panel of judges on August 23.  Three (3) businesses will be announced as winners on September 12.

ISU Innovation PRIZE:  November 8-9 at ISU Research Park

The ISU Innovation PRIZE will be hosted this fall for students, faculty, and the community to come together over a weekend to solve bold challenges facing the world, our state, and our neighborhoods.  More details to come!

Seats still available for this one-credit experiential seminar in entrepreneurship.  Great first course for freshmen - but open to all students! 
The course includes an introduction to entrepreneurship and innovation, accompanied by field trips, guest speakers, mentoring, and hands-on learning activities.

Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute: August 4-8

Every year in August, the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute (OEI) brings 32 of the sharpest entrepreneurial minds from five of Iowa's higher education institutions --Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, Iowa Lakes Community College, and Buena Vista University -- to the Iowa Lakes region for a week-long immerse entrepreneurship experience.  Learn more!
