Greetings Spinners,

Here are few "Ride Reports" from last Tuesday...

Fearless Fred:

Seven Hammers (including John P.) did a 33 mile loop to Hanover.  For the most part, we dodged the rain.  A few drops fell in the last mile or two.  All in all, it was a very nice ride.

Racer Carl:

Seven Rabbits rode mostly West for about 26 miles. Found some gravel, but no sunflowers.

Rabbit Craig:

Another great night for a ride.  Looked a little iffy but we ventured out in spite of a potential rain fall.  I was greatly relieved, based on pre ride conversations, I was not the only "crazy" checking the radar maps every hour from noon until ride time.

Glad to have Gary the ultra marathoner riding with us for a couple of weeks.  Gary is the one with the Ironman tatto on the back of his calf.

We headed west out St. Lawrence with the plan of going north when we got to "H".  The rabbits decided to keep going west to see the sunflowers (bad idea Craig).  Instead of sunflowers we were able to see a field of corn.  There were also a few miniature sunflowers (Brown Eye Susans) along the road side.  Susan calls them anniversary flowers, thanks to romantic Jeff.

After the ride a few of us stopped at Tilleys Pizza, a delightful variance from our regular after ride stops.  Have to thank Dan for that suggestion, unfortunately he missed the party.  Hopefully we will do that again before the season is over.

Here are some Happy Spinners at Tilley's Pizza after Tuesday's Ride;

Yes, the Tuesday Rides are great but there was another "EPIC EVENT" that happened this past Saturday and that is the annual RAW Ride i.e. the Ride Across Wisconsin. This year the the Wisconsin Bike Fed chose to ride from LaCrosse to Green Bay. There were 3 Spinners who completed the ride and they were Todd Poepping, John Pfleiderer & Jeff Johnson...here is Jeff's report:

On a Saturday three Spinners completed the 229 mile Ride Across Wisconsin event, riding from LaCrosse to Green Bay.  We started at 5 a.m. and finished at 8:30 p.m.  Kudos to John, Jeff and Todd who averaged just over 17 mph for the day.  “A tail wind and multiple pace lines helped”

Hats off on Congrats to Jeff, John & Todd--this is a monumental achievement; hopefully all the rides on Tuesday with the Spinners were great ways to prepare for such an EPIC Ride....please note that they are still smiling after 229 miles!!! Well done guys!

Cheers
