Minister's Message

Dear Friends,

"...Now faith is confidence...
" Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

There is a well known hymn with these lyrics, "...never give up, never let go of the faith He has placed in your heart...". Faith is a gift from God and regardless of how much we think we do or don't have of it; it is the gift that sustains us through the darkest of times. It is also the gift that allows us to rejoice when we have come through a trial, knowing that God gets all the glory!

We have recently delighted together in the news that our church finances have improved. This took steps of faith and I believe that God commends our efforts in this matter. There are opportunities in the near future to assist with some more exciting fundraising initiatives which are outlined in this newsletter.

We are now less than a month away from the Watoto Children's Choir visit. Oh happy day, or should I say, oh happy evening that awaits us! It is remarkable in our times how God is using children to declare His Gospel message in various ways. Many children are asking the questions, they are "going" where God leads, they are having to bravely declare their faith in school settings. Let us keep children in our prayers including praying for the safety of the Watoto team as they traverse Australia.

Many of our members are travelling at the moment and we pray for travelling mercies as they read this newsletter in cities and countries outside of ours. This in itself is a form of "going" for the Lord; witnessing to Christ's love regardless of where we are physically.

May God's glory continue to come to Living Faith Uniting Church! What will Jesus do next in our midst?

Your friend,
Iris

We covet your ongoing prayers for this ministry. Through God-led conversations we expect some of the mums and kids to attend the Watoto Children's Concert. It has been a wonderful talking point.

If you enjoy baking and would like to donate a few cupcakes once in a while, please contact Barbara Merefield on bjmere@gmail.com  for more information.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
PRESBYTERY TRAINING DAY
EVENT CO-ORDINATOR: HELEN BEECH

Living Faith Uniting Church have a wonderful opportunity to raise money through a presbytery event that is being hosted by our church. We have been asked to host a Presbytery Training Day about Domestic Violence  on Monday 9th and Tuesday  10th of September. The event will go from approx 9am - 4pm. We expect about 30 participants.

We have been asked to provide morning and afternoon tea, good coffee and juice, on both days.  They will have outside caterers do the lunch, so it won’t be an onerous task for us. This again, is a great opportunity to raise funds for our church.  Rev David Busch is keen for us to be the preferred venue for Presbytery Events, and we believe God has presented us with these opportunities. How exciting is that?!!
.
If anyone is a keen cook and would like to make something - sweet or savoury for this, please feel free to  contact Helen Beech on helen@beechie.com.au .

We should only need a few helpers to serve and clean up. If you would like to be a part of the team, then please  let me know verbally or via email.
Feel free to grab a few WATOTO FLYERS from the front desk of the church auditorium. Give them out to friends and family who would like to join in on a night of jiving and drumming to African Gospel out of Uganda. PLEASE ARRANGE CAR POOLING WHERE POSSIBLE.
