The Launch of Poet of Code Patreon!

Dear Champions of AJL,

I am excited to announce the launch of the Poet of Code Patreon!

The fight for algorithmic justice takes many forms, and your support has been an invaluable part of the journey toward justice. Patreon is another opportunity to support  by enabling art and creative science communications projects that raise awareness about AI harms.

Patreon members get exclusive insights to ongoing projects and behind-the-scenes media content.  If you join now, you will see my reaction to the recent Wired Article about the AJL trademark, and learn of the recent good news from Gloria Steinem herself!

Based on your Patreon tier of support, more perks include:
  • Social Media shout recognition
  • Ongoing project updates
  • Behind-the-Scenes media content
  • The opportunity to influence the direction of projects
  • Your name to be included in credits of video projects
Join me in the ongoing movement for algorithmic justice and help me create content to support the fight against the Coded Gaze.

All newsletter subscribers will continue to receive overall AJL updates on a quarterly basis.The play-by-play will be on Patreon. Learn more: Patreon.com/PoetofCode

Poet of Code shares "AI, Ain't I A Woman " - a spoken word piece that highlights the ways in which artificial intelligence can misinterpret the images of iconic black women: Oprah, Serena Williams, Michelle Obama, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, and Shirley Chisholm.

"Storytelling has the power to shift perspectives, galvanize change, alter damaging patterns, and reaffirm to others that their experiences matter. That’s why art can explore the emotional, societal, and historical connections of algorithmic bias in ways academic papers and statistics cannot. And as long as stories ground our aspirations, challenge harmful assumptions, and ignite change, I remain hopeful.
