In August our interviewee is Romualdo Alves Pereira Júnior who has a Post-Doctorate in Data Science and Engineering from the University of Ottawa - uOttawa (Canada), Doctorate in Information Science from the University of Brasília (UnB), Master in Information Systems from Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPb). Professor of the Post-graduation course in Information Technology Management at UnB (2007 - 2016). Member of the Cybercrime Research Group of the National Police Academy and of the Textual Analysis and Machine Learning Research Group of uOttawa. Federal public servant of the S&T career since 1984, having worked at CNPq, INPE, and the Brazilian Space Agency. He is currently responsible for the Coordination of Data Analysis and Information Intelligence under the Presidency of the Republic.

CEST PRESENT IN THE BIGGEST PRODUCTION ENGINEERING EVENT IN BRAZIL
CEST believes in engineering professional training and supports their participation in the XXXIX ENEGEP (Production Engineering National Meeting) to be held in October in Santos.

The meeting gathers students, researchers, professors, and professionals from several Brazilian states and national, and international speakers.

This year CEST will be present with five works on 'Operations Management in Services' developed by undergraduate students, under the supervision of Professor Clovis Alvarenga-Netto. The main challenge was to compare traditional services versus innovative services. The objects of the studies were varied, covering food delivery, health services, entertainment, and mobility. Of the five papers selected, four will be presented in a national thematic session, and the fifth  (developed by foreign students)  in an international session.
CEST COLLABORATES AT THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
To improve the services offered by the State of São Paulo Department of Education, professor Clovis Alvarenga-Netto, CEST´s member and an expert in Process Management and Quality, spoke to a group of professionals of the Education Department. The lecture dealt with aspects such as problem identification, analysis of improvement proposals, method of problem-solving, and plan actions.
CEST´S COLLABORATOR IN EVENT
Lucas Lago, CEST´s researcher and collaborator, was on the 9ª Semana de Sistemas de Informação on August 14th. Lago talked about his open source initiative called Projeto 7c0 that retrieves deleted posts on social media.
BULLETIN
The bulletin 'The power of recommendation algorithms on our decisions' by Ítalo A . do Nascimento Sousa, Master's student in Computer Engineering at the Engineering School of the University of São Paulo has just been released. 

In this bulletin, the author discusses questions about the influence of recommendation algorithms in our daily lives and elucidates possible actions to deal with such questions.
