Privatization Programme 2019-2022
Presidential Decree 250/19 of 5 August 2019*
Summary: Pursuant to the National Development Plan 2018-2022, Presidential Decree 250/19 approved the 2019-2022 privatization programme, denominated «PROPRIV», which is aimed at (i) reducing the weight and dimension of the Public Enterpreneurial Sector in the economy, (ii) increasing the quality and type of services offered to the population and (iii) ensuring the sustainability of the Public Finances.
A total of 195 companies and assets in which the State holds, directly or indirectly, a majority or a minority interest have been selected for privatization during 2019 until 2022, in the following sectors:
- Natural Resources and Petroleum
- Telecomunications and IT
- Financial
- Transports
- Economy and Planning
- Hotels and Tourism
- Agriculture and Industry
PROPRIV shall be implemented in accordance with Law 10/19, of 14 May 2019 - Law of Privitazations (duly indicated in our monthly newsletter of 5 June 2019), which foresees the following privatization methods:
a) Public tenders
b) Tenders limited by pre-qualification
c) IPOs (Initial Public Offers)
d) Stock Auctions
Presidential Decree 250/19 entered into force on 6 August 2019
* Despite the official date of publication, the Official Gazette of 5 August 2019 and respective diplomas, including Presidential Decree 250/19, was only made available on 9 August
