A 12-week workshop for writers who want to think seriously about book-length memoir in the context of narrative voice, structure and improving their craft. 

Advanced Revision & Submission Strategies: Fiction

10 Mondays from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Starting September 9th
Instructor: Shubha Sunder

Dive deep into the process of taking apart a draft: figuring out what exactly is at the heart of your story; how to deepen characters and tighten narrative; how to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary detail.

Master Poetry

10 Tuesdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Starting September 10th
Instructor: Tatiana Mary Rebecca Johnson

Advanced poets will explore the building blocks of poetry: words, lines, stanzas, rhythm, and rhyme as they manifest in their own work and that of accomplished mentor poets.

Master Personal Essay

10 Tuesdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Starting September 10th
Instructor: E.B. Bartels

Try new forms, techniques, voices, and structures while developing strategies for revision on your personal essays. Experienced writers working on narrative, long-form personal essays will receive support, guidance, and feedback.

Advanced Revision & Submission Strategies: Novel Focus

12 Thursdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Starting September 12th
Instructor: Marjan Kamali

The focus of this novel workshop will be on revision, as well as identifying and correcting any shortcomings in areas of craft, such as characterization, point of view, structure, plot, and scenes.

Master Fiction

10 Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm
Starting September 12th
Instructor: K Chess

Writers will polish and/or complete at least two short works of fiction. This advanced class will emphasize narrative point of view, story arc, dialogue, specificity of language, openings, and good sentence-making.

Fall Open House and Showcase
