Tonight's Full Moon is called the Sturgeon Moon! also known as Green Corn Moon, Barley Moon, Fruit Moon, and Grain Moon.

Sturgeon are living dinosaurs. Biologists have discovered that sturgeon existed as long as 200 million years ago. They are anadromous, meaning they start their life in fresh water and spend part in salt water, just like salmon.
The Full Moon of August is called Sturgeon Moon because American tribes knew that the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon.
