Itching for that back-to-school schedule.

Summer days are winding down and I'm enjoying the breaks of humidity hinting at the cool fall evenings to come and the new fall schedule. For students and parents, September is more like the real New Years. Everything kicks off in September. Notebooks are crisp and clean, pencils are long and sharp, and the calendar is gleaming with the possibilities of a fresh schedule. Don’t get me wrong. When school lets out, I’m ready for those unstructured days without homework, projects, practices, games, and school events. But right about now, I’m starting to itch for a schedule and some predictability in my days.

Predictability means productivity. And yes, as much as I will miss having the kids home and around, I know September is when I can have uninterrupted hours of writing, and a kitchen that stays clean for more than twenty-three minutes! And this year, I will be spending much of that time getting ready to launch my debut book in April of 2020. I’m planning some exciting things! Giveaways, a cover reveal, blueberry baking contests, and more. While I'm planning all that, you can check out my TV appearance on The Room To Write and take a peek at my monthly book recommendations in What I'm Reading

Enjoy the end of summer and get ready for a wonderfully productive back-to-school schedule!

What I'm Reading
For Elementary School Readers

This adorable little yellow bird and his heartwarming and giggle worthy friendship with a lemon is the perfect companion while sipping summer lemonade on a lazy August afternoon.

For Middle School Readers

Geek Girl is Bridget Jones with a brainiac twist for the middle school set. This first in a series had me laughing out loud as lovable but cringe-worthy 15 year old Harriet Manners tries to navigate friendship, school, parents and a burgeoning modeling career! A fun toes in the sand end of summer beach read.
For High School Age Readers

Fantasy, intrigue, and sometimes heart pounding terror (yes, I'm wimpy) had me flipping pages with wild eyed excitement. This first in a new trilogy adventure from author Philip Pullman is a prequel to The Golden Compass. Each character comes with an animal shaped manifestation of their soul! How cool is that?
For Adult Readers

Set against the backdrop of the London blitz, this friendship  sprinkled with romance story follows Emmeline as she secretly takes over an advice column in a failing woman's magazine.  There is just enough serious drama and historical fiction in this novel to make you feel literary in your beach chair.
