September's Front Porch Lecture Series is Tonight!

Cracks in the Pavement: Economic Update and Outlook

Has the lengthiest expansion in U.S. history finally been scuttled by trade wars and weak growth in other advanced economies? What indicators to watch as you assess recession risk. Are today's low interest rates anomalous or the New Normal? Why you should add China to your daily watch list?

The entire South Waterfront community is invited to join this talk presented by Michael J. Parks, who has been studying, writing about and speaking about the economy and companies of the Pacific Northwest for more than 40 years.

About Michael Parks:

Parks joined The Seattle Times as a college graduate in 1967. He became the newspaper’s financial editor in the early 1970s. He moved to a regional business newsletter, Marple’s in 1977. Parks was owner, editor and publisher on Marple’s Letter from 1980 to September 2009 when he was named editor emeritus.

Parks, a native of Spokane, Washington, is a journalism graduate of Seattle University and an alumnus of the University of Washington’s School of Communications. He and his wife moved to the Atwater about one year ago.
