HemmantThanks to those who helped clean-up on the lower Bulimba Creek to celebrate Keep Australia Beautiful Week. This was part of the Coca-Cola Landcare grant project for Oxbow & Doboy Wetlands. The event included an interesting tour of the salt marsh followed by morning tea.

waterbug trainingWaterbug Blitz Workshops
Meeting at B4C Sustainability Centre at Carindale, before moving as a group to local waterway. Learn to collect and identify waterbugs & how use the Waterbug App. The type and number of waterbugs found in a waterway can tell us a lot about how healthy that waterway is. Choose the workshop right for your level of experience. $20 each. You can just do one or do both. The cost is subsidised by B4C & Bayside Creeks Catchment Group. Includes lunch. Read more.

Tshirts Reworked with Jane Milburn

B4C Sustainability Centre, Carindale.

Upcycling advocate and slow clothing pioneer Jane Milburn returns to B4C for another Tshirts Reworked workshop. Get yourself a handy new creative skill and learn how to re-purpose shirts! Jane will demonstrate and assist you to refashion t-shirts into other items and take control of your fashion footprint! Light refreshments provided.
$25 per person. Bookings essential.

Barriers & Bridges - fauna movement solutions forum
Friday 6th September 9am. Griffith University EcoCentre

The time for wildlife movement solutions to be common practice is way overdue. This forum features presentations and a panel discussion with audience Q&A. We're currently finalising the line-up and we're really excited by how it's coming together and the strong community and industry interest. The event features Professor Darryl Jones from Griffith University, Bernadette May (Senior Environmental Planner in Green Infrastructure Networks) at Moreton Bay Regional Council, Steve Collom From Habi-Tec and more. Includes morning tea. Sponsored by the Transurban Community Grant. $10 per person.

B4C Sustainability Centre Open Day - frogs!
Saturday 7th September, 9am-12pm.
At B4C Sustainability Centre, Cnr 1358 Old Cleveland Rd & Wright St (entrance off Wright St), Carindale.

At 9.30am there will be a presentation about frogs in our urban areas by Dr Ed Meyer. This will be followed by morning tea (gold coin donation / free for members). Also enjoy a tour of our outdoor classroom and native plant nursery. For those who are wanting to buy Boomerang Bags, jam etc, please note we are cash only. (no EFTPoS sorry).

Green Heart FairGreen Heart Fair

Carindale Recreation Reserve.

Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart Fair is Brisbane’s biggest free bi-annual community and sustainability festival, promoting innovative green living in a fun, family-friendly environment. The fair welcomes over 100 of Brisbane’s leading sustainability organisations, community groups, artisans, foodies, green-thumbs, conservationists, businesses and eco experts to share information and knowledge on how to live more sustainably.
