Going up in the Gondola

The kids and I had an amazing time while on vacation.

We visited a bunch of interesting spots in Vancouver, BC and Jasper and Banff, Alberta.

One of the fun things we did was to ascend a mountain in Banff using an areal tram or gondola.

It was exciting going up.

The kids weren’t too scared.

What was at the top?

Tourist nirvana!
  • A restaurant
  • Bar
  • Gift shop
  • Starbucks licensee coffee shop
  • Interpretive displays talking about the history of the area.
Also, great views of Banff from far above and the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The kids wanted some stickers for their laptops, so we went to the gift shop.

While there, I asked, ‘how does all the stock get up here? And what about garbage going down? Do they all go in the gondola?’

Yes, was the reply.

Apparently, there are special garbage and inventory gondolas they put on after hours to remove waste and load up the inventory and food supplies.

Amazing, eh?
