Every year I feel a bit more French. (The end of the month is my 10 year anniversary.) I spent the beginning of the week in the French countryside, at Le Clos du Rû, the home/gîte of a French friend's parents. It was great to get away for a couple days. I always learn so many great French references too when I spend time with French families.

I've learned a lot about slowing down from living in France, yet the American hustle in me tries to win out. I've been using the past week for house keeping—updating my résumé, adding resources to my personal wiki, organizing the giant pile of paper I've been avoiding for months, reading books, and watching cheesy movies.

Regardless what pace your summer is going, here's some inspiration for the week:

Listen.

I had such a blast chatting with Oliver Gee about August in Paris (and so much more) on The Earful Tower. He brings such energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm to his podcast. Start with our episode, and dive into the wealth of fabulous francophiles he's chatted with over the past two years.

Watch.

I was pleasantly surprised to see "L'Auberge Espagnole," one of my favorite movies, is now on Netflix (at least in France). The 2002 film perfectly captures the energy of a study abroad experience. I'm also excited because director Cedric Klaplish has a new film coming out soon.

Read.

The 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing is over, but my fascination is not. I met Don Eyles at the Apollonauts bunch last month (I recognized his name from "13 Minutes to the Moon"). I'm loving his memoir Sunburst and Luminary which not only gives a sense of the technical challenges of getting to the moon, but also insight into the times in which it took place. As a bonus, I find myself learning more about my grandfather through books in a way I never imagined.

New Writing. ✍️

It may be a slow period, but I'm trying to lean in and enjoy the time to do all the things I've been avoiding, while taking small steps to move things forward.

Speaking of which, if anyone in London is interested in booking a POWER HOUR coaching session, I'll be in town for a few days at the end of the month. (If you're not in London, I typically take these calls over Skype or Hangouts, so never fear!). I'm also accepting bookings for September onwards for anyone looking for support on whatever you're working on.

Wishing you a wonderful week!
