TxDOT launches text message alerts for
major I-10 Connect traffic impacts

EL PASO, Texas — El Paso area motorists can now have up-to-the-minute information on major road closures and traffic impacts related to the I-10 Connect project delivered directly to their mobile phones via text message. The I-10 Connect project is currently under construction near the intersection of I-10 and US 54 in Central El Paso.

• Always give driving your full attention.
• Pull off the road entirely before you talk or text.
• Put your phone away, or turn it off, before getting behind the wheel.
• Tell friends, family and coworkers you won’t respond to calls or texts when driving.
• Use a smartphone app that sends auto-reply texts when you’re behind the wheel.

• Uva Street will be closed to thru traffic between Durazno Avenue and Rosa Avenue.
• DETOUR: Use Bowie Street between Durazno and Rosa.

Sunday, August 18 through Wednesday, August 21

• SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
• DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East and right on Raynolds Street. Westbound traffic will continue on US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street). 

Sunday, August 18, through Thursday, August 22

• Ramp F which connects westbound I-10 to Juárez will close to all traffic.
• DETOUR: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) to northbound US 54, take Exit 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the turnaround to enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to Juárez.
• Ramp G which connects eastbound I-10 to Juárez will close to all traffic.
• DETOUR: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) to northbound US 54, take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the turnaround to enter southbound US 54 and follow sigs to Juárez.
• Gateway Boulevard East will be intermittently closed to all traffic at Lincoln Center.

Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22

• Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
• DETOUR: Take Exit 21B (I-10 West/Las Cruces), continue on westbound I-10, take Exit 20 (Cotton Street), turn left on Cotton and left to enter eastbound I-10.

Thursday, August 22, from 9pm to 5am

• US 62 (Paisano Drive) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
• DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn right on San Marcial Street, left on Delta Drive, and left on Boone Street before returning to Paisano. Westbound traffic will turn right on Gateway Boulevard North, left on SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), and left on Loop 478 (Copia Street) before returning to Paisano.

• Ramp E which connects Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 at Yandell Drive remains closed until further notice.
• Ramp T which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
• Alternating complete closures of Durazno Avenue and Rosa Avenue between Bowie Street and Uva Street.
• Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
• Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
• Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
• Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
• Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) at US 54 until further notice.
• Lane closures are in place on northbound and southbound US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601 until further notice.
• Lane closures are in place on Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
• Lane closures are in place on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive) until further notice.

About the I-10 Connect Project

The I-10 Connect project is at the intersection of Interstate 10 and US 54 in El Paso County. The project extends from I-10 to Loop 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway) and provides access to the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) via I-110. The $96 million project includes the construction of four new direct connectors, a full reconstruction of the I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) interchange, and removes exit ramps from US 62 to I-110.

I-10 Connect will improve connectivity between I-10 and Loop 375, also providing an alternate route to I-10. It started February 19, 2019, and is expected to be complete in less than three years.

para impactos de tráfico por I-10 Connect 

 
EL PASO, Texas — Los automovilistas en El Paso ya se actualizarán al instante de los cierres e impactos al tráfico relacionados con el Proyecto I-10 Connect con alertas SMS recibidos en los teléfonos celulares. El Proyecto I-10 Connect está bajo construcción en la intersección de I-10 y US 54 en la zona central de El Paso.
 
Para inscribirse, visite i10connectelpaso.com. Estas comunicaciones no llevan costo, pero pueden aplicar cobros de su proveedor de servicio celular.
 
Los alertas SMS se reservan para emergencias y cierres de alto impacto relacionados con el proyecto.  Se les recomienda a los automovilistas inscribirse al boletín electrónico de I-10 Connect y seguir al proyecto en
Facebook y Twitter para mayores y mas frecuentes informes. Alertas SMS están disponibles en ingles y en español y se pueden recibir por números móviles de Estados Unidos y de México. 
 
 
En efecto desde 2017, la ley estatal prohíbe a los conductores leer, escribir, o mandar  mensajes electrónicos mientras manejan. Adicionalmente, el Departamento de Transporte de Texas les recuerda que el manejar distraído de cualquier forma representa peligro.  Según la investigación, sin importar el modo de empleo, utilizar cualquier aparato electrónico, aunque operado por la voz y sin las manos, presenta una distracción al conductor.  Si le es necesario hablar o textear, pare el vehículo en un sitio seguro.  Siga las recomendaciones para mantener la seguridad para uno mismo y para los demás:

• Siempre poner atención completa a manejar
• Parar el vehículo antes de llamar o textear
• Guardar el celular, o apagarlo, antes de manejar
• Avisar a amistades y familiares que no responderás a llamadas ni mensajes mientras manejas
• Utilizar una aplicación móvil que responda automáticamente cuando esta manejando

• DESVIACIONES: Tráfico del Este dobla a la izquierda en Circuito 478 (Copia Street), derecha en Gateway Boulevard Este y derecha en Calle Raynolds.  Tráfico del Oeste continua en US 62 (Paisano Drive) y dobla a la derecha en Circuito 478 (Copia Street). 

Domingo 18 hasta jueves 22 de agosto

• La Rampa F que conecta I-10 Oeste a Cd. Juárez cierra para todo tráfico.
• DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) a US 54 Norte, tomar Salida 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utilizar el retorno hacia US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos a Cd. Juárez.
• La Rampa G que conecta I-10 Este a Cd. Juárez cierra para todo tráfico.
• DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) a US 54 Norte, tomar Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utilizar el retorno hacia US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos a Cd. Juárez.

• DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 21B (I-10 West/Las Cruces), continuar en I-10 Oeste, tomar Salida 20 (Cotton Street), izquierda en Cotton, izquierda para tomar I-10. 

Jueves 22 de agosto de 9pm a 5am

• US 62 (Paisano Drive) cierra para todo tráfico sobre US 54.
• DESVIACIONES: Tráfico del Este dobla a la derecha en Calle San Marcial, izquierda en Delta Drive, izquierda en Calle Boone antes de volver a Paisano. Tráfico del Oeste dobla a la derecha en Gateway Boulevard Norte, izquierda en SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), izquierda en Circuito 478 (Copia Street) antes de volver a Paisano. 

• La Rampa E que conecta Gateway Boulevard Sur al US 54 Sur sobre Yandell Drive permanece cerrada hasta nuevo aviso.
