2019 New Faculty Tour

Forty-one UGA faculty members spent last week visiting 16 cities and passing through 41 Georgia counties during the 2019 New Faulty Tour.

The tour, which began in 1977, is designed to introduce new faculty members to Georgia's geography, demographics, diversity, economy, history and culture, while also showcasing the important role that UGA serves throughout the state as both a land- and sea-grant university.
State Botanical Garden alliance wins national award for conservation
 

The Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance, headquartered at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at UGA, received a 2019 Environmental Excellence Award from the Federal Highway Administration for its work with the Georgia Department of Transportation.

 
Alumni turn coastal appreciation into an opportunity for a student
 

You can see the salt marsh from nearly every room in Dorothea and Wink Smith’s Hilton Head home. The activity varies with the tide. When the water is high, boats cruise through a channel that connects residents and businesses to the intercoastal waterway and the ocean.
