For their 20th Anniversary the Richmond Literature Festival present a diverse programme of events and works that are thought provoking, romantic, political, rebellious and innovative - all ingrained in the highly anticipated Fringe events.
Richmond Literature Festival: Fringe events announced
4 - 27 November, at various venues along the Thames and around Richmond
The festival are excited to announce this years Fringe events in partnership with Apples and Snakes; combining a great mix of spoken word, poetry, psycho-geography, music, and established and emerging artists to inspire you. The Fringe events will also feature an exclusive commission written and read by author and broadcaster Michael Smith as a psycho-geographical response to the river and its narrative pathway through the borough, to be presented at their 20th anniversary birthday boat-party with Caught By The River on Friday 4 November onboard the Richmond Royale.

The festival's Programme Director Kirsteen McNish will be our Guest Editor next week offering her culture tips. Expect more highlights from the rest of the festival to be announced, plus interviews with festival speakers Marina Warner (Stranger Magic), Joe Dunthorne (Submarine), and Sandy Nairn (Art Theft and the Case of the Stolen Turners).

Friday 4 November
Celebrate the festivals 20th anniversary with Caught by the River, hosted by Writer and Culture Show presenter Michael Smith. The party will feature contributing authors playing their favorite records accompanied by readings from the latest anthology, On Nature: Unexpected Ramblings on the British Countryside.

An evening with two phenomena of the UK poetry scene.
Ian Sinclair & Inua Ellams at the Studio at RACC
Wednesday 16 November
Sinclair is the poet laureate of London's peripheries, who'll be sharing the evening with Ellams, the award winning verbal trouble maker whose The 14th Tale enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre.
Laura Barton & Ross Sutherland at The Orange Tree Pub
Thursday 17 November
Barton discusses music and landscape which together are the subjects of her current work-in-progress. Sutherland, the man behind The Three Stigmata of Pacman will take us on a journey through a landscape of his own making.
Ian McMillan presents Talking Myself Home at The Studio at RACC
Wednesday 23 November
Quirky radio presence, inventive writer, and all-round good bloke, McMillan presents a poetic voyage of self-discovery that begins and ends in Barnsley.
John Hegley, El Crisis & The Bonfire Band at Ham House
Sunday 27 November
A vocal triple bill that's bound to strike a chord with those who sway toward the musical word. Expect a charmed, witty and whimsical evening - and being the festival's final night, it's set to unfurl into a rousing knees up!
