Empowering children and teens to embrace and express their inherent divinity.

Director's Note

Wayne Dyer's Six Steps to Finding an Inspired Life (continued):

This is the fifth of six principles that are important to observe as we seek an inspired life—they’re a blueprint to refer to as we reconstruct a life in-Spirit.

Principle #5: “Don’t Die Wondering”

This principle is extremely important in working toward an inspired life because it motivates us to act—after all, we don’t want to be full of regrets because we failed to heed our ultimate calling. Attempting to do something, even if it doesn’t succeed, is inspiring because we don’t tend to regret what we do, we regret what we didn’t do. Even following a futile attempt, we’re inspired because we know that we gave it a shot. It’s wondering whether we should or shouldn’t try something that leaves us feeling stressed and incomplete.

Inspiration has nothing to do with whether we win or lose; in fact, if we just play the game of life, we’ll have plenty of wins and losses, regardless of our talent level. If we fail to even try because of fear of rejection or doubt about our talent, we’re going to go through life wondering, and that’s what keeps us from finding and feeling inspiration.

The return of Soul School is just around the corner (September 8).  We've got two teacher slots left to fill:
  • Uniteens (Gr. 6-8)
  • YOU (Gr. 9-12)
Help us make Soul School a success by volunteering once or twice a month.  It's easy ... teacher-friendly (and super-cool) curriculum, a CD of that day's service (if you like), and support from me!  You can reply to this email to let me know you're interested.  Soul School is only possible when we have teachers ... I deeply appreciate your help!

This Week's Angel Affirmation:  "Courage is the prerequisite for accomplishment; few outstanding achievements are by-products of fear."

Youth and Family Ministry Director

"Tissue Paper Flowers and Colorful Vases" with Dominique
We'll keep the color of summer going long after the fall has started by creating delightful flowers out of tissue paper AND the beautiful "stained-glass effect" vases to put them in!  Soul School teacher Dominique Giambalvo guides us in creating these lovely decorations to take home!

UNS Potluck Barbecue Picnic on August 25 after the Service

Fun, food, and fellowship.  Hecky's Barbecue provides the hot dogs, burgers, and veggie burgers; you sign up to supply buns, salads, sides, desserts, or beverages.  The sign up sheet will go up in July.  We're also looking for event volunteers (set-up, grillers, clean-up), so look for that sign-up sheet, too!

There will be games and prizes for the kids.  Uniteens and YOUers can earn service hours for their fall retreats by running the games, and should see Kate if interested.

One of the most fun activities of the year, and a great farewell to the summer.  Put it on your family's calendar today!

Interfaith Block Party, Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 am - 4 pm

UNS is putting together an awesome event for all of our surrounding communities.  Based on the event that Kate helped produce at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto, we are creating a day of love, peace, inclusion and togetherness.

Our partners include: Baha'is, Episcopalians, Muslims, Jains, Jews, Pagans, Sikhs, Unitarians, and Zoroastrians.  We'll connect, learn, play, and have a great day together.

There will be:

  • Live performances
  • Interactive World Religions Walk
  • Canopy of Humanity public art project
  • Games and activities for all
  • Yoga and Guided Meditation
  • Interfaith Book Nook
  • Spiritual Playdates
  • Interfaith Bake Sale with treats from different faith traditions
We invite our teens to help run all or part of the event for the service hours needed for their retreat attendance requirement.  If interested, see Kate.

This will be an extraordinary event for you and your family and a great opportunity to expand the consciousness of the planet.  We appreciate your participation!

Click BLOCK PARTY to buy your 'Pay What You Wish' tickets (suggested: $7 each -- but feel free to give more to support the event!).  Attendees and volunteers alike will need a ticket to get an event wristband and be on site.  If you are moved to become a Sponsor of the event, there is a button on the same Unity event page that will take you to the sponsorship page.
