VOLUNTEER
When you volunteer, everyone wins

Looking to do something meaningful in your week? Hoping to connect with like-minded people? Exploring options for a career? Volunteering gets you involved with others and engaged with your community and looks great on a resume. Just 2-3 hours a week makes a big difference at your library!

We are now accepting applications for positions with a minimum six-month commitment. Ages 14+.

Circulation: Calling all avid readers and organizers! Sort and shelve library materials. Weekday and weekend openings in Circulation at Bethany and Cedar Mill Libraries.
Two-hour shift once a week.

Bethany Library Craft Prep: Cut out shapes, count buttons, snip string, and more. Help prepare craft materials for Youth Programs at Bethany Library. Take home work and check in bi-weekly with the librarians.

Book Check-in: Early literacy leads to later success. Help with Bookshare, our children’s outreach program that facilitates the sharing of books with young children at childcare sites. Check in books and prepare them to circulate.
Two hour shift, once a week at Cedar Mill Library's BookShare Office.

BookShare Driver: Deliver boxes of books to the childcare sites we serve. Our books, your car. One morning per week.

2nd Edition Resale Shop:  Consume less, reuse more! If you are committed to conservation and want to support the library, you may enjoy volunteering at 2nd Edition. Sort and prepare donations for resale, or help provide great customer service in the shop. Great for the planet, great on a resume!
One 3-hour shift per week, weekday and weekend shifts available.

Book Club Co-leaders for Adult Outreach: Two-person teams lead a monthly book discussion at a senior living community, where avid readers enjoy conversation about books and reading.
One day/month. Own transportation required.

Book Processing: Join our processing crew and see what’s new! With precision and care, prepare new books for their lives as library books as you follow guidelines to apply stamps, stickers and identifiers to new library materials.
Fridays, 9-11am at Cedar Mill Library.

Library Board of Directors: Be an ambassador to the community by serving on the library’s board. To find out more, attend the next Board meeting August 20, 7pm, in Cedar Mill Library’s Lewis Room.
