CEO VIDEO NEWSLETTER

16 AUGUST 2019

Dear colleagues and partners,

It's Friday so time for another newsletter. It's crazy how quickly the days and weeks fly by. It's almost the end of summer already.

As is always the case, I'm delighted to bring you some reflections and insights on my past working week. if you have any thoughts or feedback on the items I cover in this week's edition, please do get in touch. You can reach me on my social channels below or via email here.

VISIT TO EIT HEALTH SPAIN
I had the pleasure this week of making a visit to the Spanish CLC and their new emerging office space in Barcelona. It was great to meet with Cristina Bescos and her team to discuss what they're doing.

It was also good to get to sit down with Xavier Prats Monné. Xavier as you all will know is the former Director General of DG SANTE at the European Commission and is now an Adviser to EIT Health looking at education matters and expanding the work of the Spanish CLC.

More details in the video.

PATIENT OUTCOME METRICS
In a few of these newsletters, I have spoken about our work to better capture impact and outcomes that really matter to patients at the project level and in EIT Health as a whole.

We have some great projects implementing this new approach and using it to really engage patients.

To take this forward we are now turning our approach into digital learning modules so that future teams and projects, both inside and outside EIT Health, can benefit from our learnings and experience. The UK and Ireland CLC will take up this challenge.

More details in the video.

JP'S SUCCESS STORY - WEEK 6
This week, I want to continue my new section of this newsletter entitled "JP's Success Story'.

Each week, I'll take an example of what success means for EIT Health - something which can take several shapes. I'll explain the example and then provide info on why this is a success for EIT Health.

This week we look at inveox, a Munich based start-up bringing AI and automation into the world of histopathology to support faster, safer and better cancer diagnosis. Only founded in 2017, we supported them through our Headstart programme and connected them to others in our community for advice, guidance and support. The company has now raised €17m in another round of funding - great news for such a young start-up.

More details here and on their website here - one to watch.

You can also hear more in the video.
