FIRST EVER ART CARAVAN TRAVELS TO WILEVILLE
A dozen members of the Lunenburg Art Society will participate in a pop-up art show at the Wile's Lake Farm Market on Saturday, August 24, 11 am - 2 pm. LAS' mandate is to share art in Lunenburg and surrounding area. We are happy when our neighbours come to the gallery, but not everyone can, or knows why they might want to. So we'll take our art to the people - displaying it next to fresh veggies and tasty baked goods!
Read about our generous hosts and some participating artists in the Wile's Lake Farm Market's newsletter HERE. You'll have to get past the blueberry pie to see us - in the newsletter and at the market!
There's still room for a few more to join us. Contact Jan Hull asap: president@lunenburgartsociety.ca. Participation is FREE!
MEMBERS PLEASE READ: NEED-TO-KNOW FOR NEXT SHOW
It's ANY subject, ANY size for art in the members' gallery for the remaining two shows in this season. However, if you are contemplating bringing wall art with any one dimension in excess of 48", YOU MUST obtain approval first. Contact Jan Pattison, Chair of the Members' Gallery Hanging Committee: gifted@lunenburgartsociety.ca.
Remember, you're sharing the walls with 40-60 other members.

Please follow these four steps:
  1. REGISTER your art at info@lunenburgartsociety.ca by midnight WEDNESDAY AUGUST 21. Please do not ask to register late.
  2. BRING IN your art on SUNDAY, AUGUST 25, between 1:00 and 3:30 pm. If that time doesn't work for you, please ask a friend to bring it in for you. Volunteers DO work for you, and those are the hours they offered to do it.
  3. TAKE OUT your unsold art on SUNDAY August 25, 1;00 - 3:30. Art remaining after that time will be left lying around in dangerous places.
  4. ATTEND the opening of your show on FRIDAY August 30, 5:00 - 6:55 pm. Bring lots of friends. Can you offer to help serve refreshments? Contact Heather exhibitions@lunenburgartsociety.ca
GALLERY ATTENDANTS:
BE ONE
LAS members are amazing! You have staffed the gallery on weekends ever since we opened in the spring! We still have two months to go, so please keep on coming in. Pick any Saturday or Sunday, 11-5,
starting with Sat August 31 and Sun September 1. Tell Joe your choice: info@lunenburgartsociety.ca.
GALLERY ATTENDANTS:
SEE ONE

Members, when you visit the Gallery, please introduce yourself to the Gallery Attendant on duty. Whether it's Joe Wilson, our weekday Administrator / Attendant, or a fellow member on weekends, we'd love to meet you. If you have art on display, it's easier to discuss it with visitors if we know a little bit about you.
FROM OUR VERY FULL MAILBAG:
From Wendy Muise:
I just spent a fun Sunday minding the gallery; met and talked with lots of lovely people and sold several paintings and gifts from our shop.  It was a rewarding way to spend the day as a volunteer and I recommend it to our members.  Its great to be part of such a classy gallery and happening place.

From Heather Waugh Pitts:
I wanted to thank members of the Lunenburg Art Gallery committee for the wonderful experience I had exhibiting  in the show INTERACTIONS (June 26-July 28 2019) I have participated in a few other galleries as part of a group show, this was my first time as part of a trio of artists. I had the ceramic sculpture in this show, with two contemporary painters.
Everything was professionally executed, set up, opening night..the show and the take down. The constant communication from front desk, emailing with regards to sales, comments from guests.. questions etc..it was invaluable feedback. The photos on social media..Instagram, Facebook throughout the whole show was so well done.
The way the gallery presents itself, in the minimal, clean, well lit look, hanging and set up is so professional, and polished that photos of the art work looks amazing in this setting.
The credibility of showing my work here at the Lunenburg Art Gallery has led to so many new paths. I have been contacted for commissions, I’ll be featured in a new book, a design firm in Montreal has purchased many pieces.. etc.
I have attended different incubator programs run in London UK. I liken your gallery as an incubator to launch artists here in Lunenburg. I really can’t thank you enough for having included me in your group of artists in this show.
You give confidence, you grow artists. That is valuable in a gallery. Thank you.
[Note: Heather has now joined LAS. You're welcome, Heather - and welcome!]

From Colleen Galloway:
I wanted to pass on a comment I heard from someone leaving PSOS. Denise Flower [of The Knot Pub, a generous sponsor of PSOS] was putting her two new paintings in her car when I walked by. She said that she was surprised that there were so few buyers but that she thought  the event was well organized and that if the end result was not as successful as other years, it would not be because of the event execution. She was very positive and I wanted to pass this along. Thank you to all of you for your hard work.

Thanks for writing, everyone! We do work hard, and your appreciation is appreciated!
PSOS SURVEY SAYS:
We had excellent response. It'll take a while to collate it all, but a summary will come to you in a future newsletter. Thanks to all who responded and added comments: we are reading and heeding. Planning for the 20th PSOS, July 18-19, 2020, is already underway, and it's exciting!

OK, NOT ANOTHER WORD!
