The Week That Was: We Made it to 666, Thanks to Brad and Brogan
- Monday August 12 - The incomparable Brad Maylor was in the basement for some new music picks. He got our week rolling with a band from Milwaukee - Telethon.
- Tuesday August 13 - Brad continues to carry the new music ball for us, this time throwing some emo on the table and digging right in. Summer is perfect for the Pool Kids.
- Wednesday August 14 - Mr. Maylor wraps up a yeoman's performance by discussing the latest from Richmond, VA's Lucy Dacus. Thanks Brad!
- Thursday August 15 - Thanks for the charity of our good friend Mike Wagner, we introduce a new voice to the pod today, Brogan McCuen. She's dishes on the concept of guilty pleasures and karaoke. Anyone for The Darkness?
- Friday August 16 - We reach a rock and roll milestone today, 666 episodes. Patrick welcomes a very special guest to mark the occasion. Everything in this episode is real, except for what isn't.

Straight Outta the Pressing Plant: New Releases August 16
Pack up the kids, the dog, Grandma and Grandpa (even Grandpaboy) and head down to the record mart to grab some new wax.
Hold Steady – Thrashing Thru the Passion (Frenchkiss)
Ace keyboardist Franz Nicolay returns to the lineup for this prominent indie band’s seventh album. If you know anything about the group’s Springsteen-esque sound (and live show), these keys are big deal.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard – Infest the Rat’s Nest (Flightless/ATO)
This prolific Australian band, previously more of a garage-psychedelia act, explores the metallic arts for its 18th album. Horns up, mates!
Ride – This is not a Safe Place (Wichita)
This British shoegaze band’s sixth album – second since reforming in 2014 — ditches a lot of the swirling guitar thing for a cleaner pop-rock sound. If your safe place is immersing yourself in waves of fuzzy guitars, the title should have tipped you off.
Sleater-Kinney – The Center Won’t Hold (Mom + Pop)
Producer St. Vincent plays Eno to Carrie Brownstein/Corin Tucker’s Bowie on this artsy (and dancey) album that frequently veers far from the band’s signature riot grrrl sound. They could be heroes.
Snoop Dogg – I Wanna Thank Me (Doggystyle/Empire)
After hanging Martha Stewart and hosting a network game show, Snoop gets back into the studio, with a bunch of friends including Slick Rick, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, Jermaine Dupri. The result is 22 new jams.
Frank Turner – No Man’s Land (Polydor/UMe)
For his eighth album, the British folk-punk troubadour sings about real women in history (that title, get it?). A noble exercise, perhaps, but maybe it would mean more coming from a woman’s perspective?
